Why is my Edge 6 not communicating with Windows 7 or 8.1?

Question

My Droid no longer appears in File Manager when I connect it to either my home laptop (W8.1) or to my work PC (W7).

Everything I searched for thus far hasn't done me any good, I can't find the USB Connector in Settings on the Droid.

Android v 6.0.1

Security patch level is April 2, 2016

(I think it was working prior to this patch)

Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same issue with my S6. Verizon didn't help me, 5 days with Samsung support on fb messager didn't help me. I went to Best Buy and the Samsung guy fixed it. Under settings, go to about phone, continuous tap on build number, that should give you a "developer options" on your settings menu. Under developer options, turn on USB debugging. Then you'll see the "USB configuration" option. That's where you'll change it to be media transfer protocol. It will default to charging only, so you'll have to probably change it all the time. But you'll always have the developer option once you turn it on, so it'll be easier next time. He told me it is because of the marshmallow update.
