Why is text messaging is taking 20 minutes?

After updating the latest system upgrade, text messaging takes longer than 20 minutes. This only affects me, not others on the same Verizon account and happens to anyone who sends me a text message. I've attempted to turn the phone off and on after reading others with similar problems and it didn't help.

If you can, power down, remove the sim card, wait a minute, reinstall and power back on and see if that helps.

I suggest if you haven't tried removing your sim card, you do.
If that doesn't work, save any message threads you want to save and then look into:
Settings>Applications>Application Manager>ALL (scroll to it) and find the messaging app you use, delete the cache, delete the data and restart your device.

I suggest going into Verizon and getting a new SIM card then. You could be having trouble connecting to the network.

I brought my phone into the Verizon store yesterday and they told me that my Galaxy S4 couldn't handle the recent upgrade. I ended up using my upgrade to get a new phone. Thanks for all the suggestions.

That's good you had the upgrade, but chances are good if you didn't, they would have found a way to help you out in order to keep that same device.
