I have a Galaxy S4 and it will not charge. Last night it told me the charger I was using was not compatible with the phone and it is the charger that came with the phone.

Try what tikibar1 suggested and if that does not work then try this:
Grab you laptop and download Kies here. Once downloaded and installed, plug in your Galaxy S4 into the computer and do a full back up to Kies. After that is all done, remove your microSD card from your phone (if you have one) and unplug your phone. Then go to Settings>Backup and reset and perform a Factory Data Reset. This is going to make your phone like brand new, and erase absolutely everything. Once that's finished, before restoring your device from Kies try plugging it in and see if it works. If it does great!
If it does not work you will need to call Customer Service and have them send you a refurbished device because more than likely it is a port issue. Just call 611 on your phone and if you just want to get to a representative just keep pressing 0 until you hear it asks for the password of the last 4 of your social.
Let me know if this helps!

Try turning off the phone, removing the battery, and waiting a few minutes, then reinstall the battery and turn the phone back on.
