Why won't my PC recognize my mobile hotspot?

I recently purchased and Lenovo Yoga Idea Pad II computer (and tablet) that has Window's 8.1.  I can't get my Galaxy S4 Hotspot to work with it.  It never shows up on my list of available wireless networks.  I have registered the computer and tried to update the drivers for Samsung but still nothing shows.  I did research and it seems that Verizon needs to release the update but hasn't.  Does anyone know this to be true?  ?

Ann154, I switched frequency and it then showed as an option for wireless connection.  However, when I tried to connect, it wouldn't.  So, I switched to Open Network and allowed devices first which worked.  Then I registered the computer as an allowed device and tried again over a secure network (WPA2 PSK - the only other option) and it wouldn't connect.  I switched back to open/allowed devices only and it worked.  At least I'm making progress.

Thank you for the suggestion.  Very helpful!!

Can your wireless hot spot be seen by other wireless devices? Do you have wireless broadcast turned on?

Yes, I can see all other available wireless connections.  I also double checked my MAC address on my computer in case I typed it in wrong.

On the S4, which frequency are you broadcasting the mobile hotspot on? It will either be 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Also is it using the G or N protocol? The tablet might only be able to see the 2.4 GHz frequency and the phone was broadcasting on the 5 GHz signal for example. Check out the settings including the advanced ones on the phone for the mobile hotspot feature.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I found what you were referring to in advance settings and I will see if that works when I can get back to my personal computer.  Thanks for the suggestion.  Keeping my finger's crossed.
