Why wont my phone activate?

I just got a Galaxy S4, and now I can't get it to activate so that I can receive all of my contacts from my old iPhone. It already had a SIM card inside it when I first turned it on, but it didn't sync my old contacts. I then realized that it came with another SIM card in the box, so I turned the device off, inserted that new SIM card, and now the phone is stuck on a message saying "Please wait until your phone has been activated". I've tried switching back and forth between the two SIM cards to see if anything different happened and nothing. Eventually I'll get an error message saying things like make sure you're close to a wifi access point, which I am of course. It also says to make sure my old phone is turned off, which it is. I'm just not really sure what to do at this point. Help would be greatly appreciated.

You should use the SIM card that came with the phone. The SIM card doesn't contain any information about your contacts. The phone won't synch anything until you set up your Google and email accounts. Hopefully, you backed up your iPhone contacts using Backup Assistant. That's the only way I know of to get your contacts onto the S4.

When I got my new S4, it came with a SIM card installed, but that wasn't the correct one and the phone wouldn't activate with that SIM card. There was a second SIM card in the red Start Here packet (wrapped in a smaller packet marked "4GLTE SIM Card") that I had to install in the phone to activate; it was the one with the ID referenced in my order receipt. Don't throw away the SIM card that came inside the phone; it can be activated later, if needed, with a phone call or on My Verizon. Think of it as a spare...
