I'm trying to find out if I will be able to access the internet via my Samsung Fascinate, when I'm out of the Verizon service area.
I will be traveling to Costa Rica in July and the hotel I'm booked at has free Wi-Fi. Will I able to access the internet while at the hotel even-though I will have no phone service.
If anyone can help with this question, thanks.

The other members in this posting are correct. Here are the steps to prevent the phone from connecting to data while traveling internationally. Go to Settings> Wireless & Networks> Mobile Networks> make sure that Data Roaming is disabled (unchecked). This will prevent you from connecting to the cellular network while in Costa Rica.
If you do not plan on using any cellular features including voice and text messages, ensure you are putting the phone into airplane mode. Go to Settings> Wireless & Networks> check Airplane Mode. I would recommend keeping you phone in airplane mode for the duration of your trip, because if you take it off of airplane mode, you could get bombarded for text messages that the network is waiting to download to your phone. Wifi will work while in airplane mode.
Have a wonderful trip! I have to admit I am a tad jealous.

You should be able to. You could always try it now, just turn off the MOBILE DATA, turn on the Wi-FI, and connect to a wireless AP somewhere, and try the internet.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
