I have a Galaxy S3, less than a year old and the micro USB port appears to be damaged and it is becoming increasingly difficult to charge. If I bring my phone in, will Verizon repair the phone or give me a new one? I'd like to avoid having to reconfigure things on a new phone if at all possible...

Verizon doesn't repair phones. You could process a warranty replacement, but you will get a certified refurbished device. Verizon Wireless when getting your original device will examine your device and determine if it is or isn't damaged by something not covered by warranty. If they found any,you will be charged a damage fee.
You might have better results contacting Samsung the manufacturer to arrange for repair.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
