Texting and MMS do not count against data.  Do you have unlimited talk and text?  Data is a separate issue.  MMS uses data, but not billable data if on an unlimited texting plan.

Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is the standard way to send text messages with attachment such as photos, video and audio content, between cell phones.

MMS is included with unlimited messaging.  (excludes video messaging on mobile data)  Video messaging is "facetime" on Apple..... and Skype, Hangouts (Android) Verizon Video Chat over Advanced Calling.  Advanced Calling:  Advanced Calling 1.0 - Verizon Wireless - Verizon Wireless

Of Note:   Facebooks "Messenger App" .. "DOES  use your Data Plan".   Because... FB Messenger APP  is "not" an SMS/TEXT Messaging application (App) ... And it's  a lot of Data it uses.

Tnx for your great question & for  those given nice, clear & brief assistance  replies.  Peace & Respect

You can download the FB app and the Messenger app, then disable the messenger app, but leave it installed, and then you can use the FB messenger thru the FB main app.
