There is at least one other thread on this topic....
I've downloaded Android File Transfer on my mac, and I've gone into developer tools and changed the USB configuration to Media Transfer Protocol and have switched on USB debugging. Phone still not recognized by the Mac. Pretty ridiculous that I've spent the entire day working as a 'programmer' to get my phone to do something pretty simple.
Unacceptable that the phone and computer can't talk to each other. Pretty tired of having the various platforms being so proprietary. If there is someone who isn't just guessing but really knows how to fix this, it would save me from returning the phone.
Thanks!

You can thank Apple for not implementing full MTP support every other operating system in the world has.
If you have a PC or Linux host around (maybe even try running VirtualBox + Ubuntu), make sure the phone isn't the problem. It could be just a software bug within the version of Marshmallow the S7 ships with preventing it from talking to AFT. Or, AFT could be in need of an update given the last time a new binary was released. I wouldn't know until I can get my hands on an S7 to try with my Mac.
Final thought - you don't have Samsung Smart Switch installed, do you? That interferes with AFT.
