buzzeswoman2008, let's get to the bottom of this. This is what helped me after my S5 performed the latest Lollipop update. I utilized Samsung Kies http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ from my PC. The best thing about that application is it will back up everything for you on your device. Do make sure you know your gmail information as it will be responsible for restoring your applications once Kies finishing a clean install of the software to your handset.
I know doing all of this can be a pain as this was the first major update that required a lot of maintenance from myself to get my phone back to normal operations but we appreciate your efforts. Let us know how it goes.

Contrary to popular belief....the software updates come from the MANUFACTURE not from Verizon.

It's possible that if you make enough noise that Verizon MIGHT let you Early Edge to a Turbo or MAXX and have you send back the S5. Of course, you start over with phone payments. But, it might be an option.

Judging from all the posts about the S5 that I have been following for a while now, it looks like everyone will have to wait for 5.1 or some other incremental software update to repair the damage from this last update.

I did the update when it first was released both on my phone and another family members phone which is the same exact one i have. and they have had no problems. I got rid of all of the 3rd party apps i dont need and i was noticing the cool down after i would charge it. This is my first 4G phone in over 3 yrs and my previous phone never had an issue til right before I upgraded and chose this one.

its been over a month since i have had the update and the update to the update. I dont stream a lot of data on my phone i normally use it when i am connected to wifi and even then im not using the data much. i normally use my phone for texting and making calls. i dont understand how it would take this long for my phone to act normal. Even when im using data I make sure and close any and all of the apps I have open.

On my latest phone (#3 and wasn't lucky)
I kept it factory reset. I only put in my sim and booted it up. I didn't install any apps, I download anything, or even put in my sd card. Per the Support techs instructions to see if the problems still persisted. They did.
Your not alone in it.

One of the LG's is having alot of the same problems. Or are at least reporting them on the forums.
I'm disgusted with Verizon's answer to just suck it up and hope a fix comes out sometime.

me too...but i cant even get them to replace my phone. and the one tech support person that offered asked me if i really wanted to get it replaced cuz the refurb one they would send me is just going to have the same issues. so i have refused to call them again to report the same problems i report on here...why call and let them know i have the same issues thats reported on here if they wont replace my phone even though its under warranty.

They have replaced mine 3 times.
Original phone- Customer service tried to pull one over on me and suggest I updated inappropriately.
2nd phone- Live Chat swore up and down it was just an upgrade issue and the new phone (#3) would work perfectly.
3rd phone- is doing the exact same things.
They offered me another replacement but flat up told me it wouldn't help this time (progress eh?)
What I find disgusting is Verizon after the lies, and countless hours on their live chat and phone will not get me a working phone *another smartphone that works, or let me out of the contract so I can pursue a working phone.
Essentially they grid lock you. They will not reduce my bill to a basic phone because that is what I've been reduced to.
We have 4 lines coming up end of contract and this experience has put a foul taste in everyones mouth. We're shopping around.

I'm tempted to pay for a different phone out of pocket because of all this crap. I woke up this am to my phone being in cooling down mode and idk why...I'm just so tired of that tech support should want to help me find a solution.

My phone was barely a few months old when the update came down the pike.
If i'm going to end up having to pay for another phone to get it working. Verizon better be cancelling my contract so I can find someone who can actually provide what they are advertising.
*side-note* Today I got the "replacement battery" for my 3rd "replacement phone" In roughly 7 minutes I've already dropped 3% doing absolutely nothing with the phone. Great fix Verizon!
