gingerbread/android 2.3 update?

This is a little bit off topic, but I was wondring when is the samsung fascinate going to receive the gingerbread update. It woulsnt make any sense that the galacy s phone has received the update which has exactly the same specs as the fascinate besides radio. This update would help the battery problem too, my friend has the vibrant and rooted itand slapped on gingerbread and overclocked his phone, yet he somehow gets a day and a half with the phone with brightness all the way up all the time and all he does is play games on his phone -_-
