HI... I am not interested in receiving EMAIL notifications on my phone.... How do I turn that off. I DO want to receive notifications for text, phone & voice-mails ONLY.

Other than the Gmail account, you could remove the accounts from the phone. That would definitely remove the notifications.
The other option
Open Mail app > menu > settings > Account settings > select the email account > uncheck email notifications. You can also adjust the ringtone to the "Silent" selection.
The Gmail app will have a similar option to turn off the email notifications.
