Hello Johnnydig
Great question! There are some great 3rd party application that will help you accomplish this. I unfortunately can't recommend one. I would recommend google searching this and reviewing the results.

Joe, does Verizon have a Facebook page for the Galaxy S4 support? You refer people to follow you on Twitter but I only use Facebook. Thanks!

You can also import your itunes library into you Google Play Music account. Then use Play Music to access it.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Only problem with this is Google Play stores the music on the phone memory instead of the SD card. If you are getting close on data in the phone memory, it could start to cause problems.
Guess it depends on how much music you have. I currently have ~7 GB of music on my SD card.

Quite simple. take the usb cable to your phone plug into your computer. The phone will show another drive letter in windows explorer. Now double click the new drive letter and locate the MUSIC folder on the phone.
Now scroll up to your computers music folder, look for the apple folder, open it up then right click on the itunes music folder and do a Select All, then Copy.
Scroll back to the phones drive, locate the music folder and right click on it and then select paste.
The music will now copy to your device. When completed just unplug the cell from your computer.
This same process can be used for zip drives, or thumb drives and cd's and DVD'S which hold your music.
Good Luck

Elector, please forgive my ignorance. What USB cable are you referring to? I just started downloading some of my iTunes songs via Bluetooth and it's taking over 10 minutes for each song. I've love to d/l the songs the way you explain but don't understand about the USB cable. Do I have to buy one?
Thanks for your help!

Elector, I found my own answer. I forgot the USB end of the cable was connected to the AC adaptor! I'll try your directions when I get the chance, in the next few days. Thanks!

Personally, I use Double Twist with AirSync.
This automatically updates my phone when I add tracks to my iTunes acct.

You forgot to mention that AirSync costs $4.99. I'm looking for something that's free.

No, I did not forget to mention it. In your original post, YOU forgot to mention you were looking for something which was free. I mentioned something which works which is what your were requesting.
I am happy you were able to get it done with the cable. The problem I find with this is I have to reconnect my phone to the computer each and every time to re-sync if I make a change to my computer.
With AirSync, I do not have to do this. Without having to plug your phone into your computer and not willing to pay the $5 for AirSync, you could also do this with a file explorer on your phone, such as ES File Explorer. It is free and you can cut and past from your computer from your phone.

You don't have to resync to your computer. Many times I take my cd's and place them into Windows Media Player, with my settings it automatically sends them to iTunes which sends them to the cloud. (iTunes Cloud)
The iTunes program then automatically triggers an upload to Google play music which triggers my wifes Motocast so its sent to all phones, tablets and computers.
All from just putting a new cd on my computer. Actually all computers are set that way. And fully automated.
With 7,000 songs in my cloud and physically on my computer music and videos and photos are abundant.
But that was a option buying that app. Too complicated

I'm sorry, I guess I must have misunderstood why you had the OP use a USB cable to plug his phone into his computer, then. I thought the solution he used was to cut and paste the songs from his computer to his phone when plugged into the computer via a USB cable???
If this WAS the method he used, I don't understand why he wouldn't need to plug the phone BACK into the computer in order to add any songs he added to his iTunes library after the 1st transfer of music by performing the same cut & paste method he originally used.
I just prefer to it without having to attatch my phone to my computer to do this task. To each his own, though.
