loss of mic and speaker during phone calls.

Any suggestions on what I can do to correct the issue of the device mic and speaker quitting during phone calls? I also periodically have the sound drop out on my Pandora app.

Do you remember if issues started after installing/updating a particular application/software? Is there any physical/water damage to the phone?
