my galaxy 7 will not connect to my computer. I have already turned on USB debugging under developer tools. Now what?

We definitely want you to have a great working device. When you have it plugged into your computer, you will need to pull down the notification shade and choose “Touch for other USB options.” Then you can choose which option corresponds with the task you are looking to perform.

What version of the OS on your computer are you using?
Did you get the drivers for this phone from Samsung?

Beth8, now what you should be doing is turn off developer tools. And refer to what I posted in this link, that's the direction you want to be looking into.
my computer won't recognize my galaxy s7 when connected via USB
Tried all the tips and my laptop running win10 will still not recognize my s7 edge
Gbktoledo, when you plug the phone into the computer USB port does it show as charging, as in the battery?
If not then it's likely the USB cable itself or the port. If it is showing as charging then unplug the phone. Go into Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers - and right click on USB Mass storage device go to Properties and delete or uninstall it. Then restart the computer and see if the phone is recognized.
Gbktoledo, getting that connection for your new phone is certainly what we want for you. Let's dig a bit deeper to see what may be happening. Have you been able to connect to any other computer? Does the computer recognize the device?
I've tried multiple cables and the same thing happens, the computer goes into charge mode. I've gone into the device manager and I do not have the mass storage options under usb.
I've had a note4 and had no problems connecting to my laptop
