does anyone else have reception problems with the Samsung galaxy s7 verizon
I had that problem at home only too. Enabled advanced calling and WiFi calling, been perfect since.
I just recent bought my phone about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I'm experiencing the same issue.
depends where you are in relation to the closest cell tower, which only covers the one direction it faces.

I don't know the exact date it started. However, it's been going on for quite sometime. My zip code is 76022.

Poor/weak signal makes phone calls drop.
dltkt1, dropped calls are never enjoyable. We would like to investigate this further for you. Does the problem only in one area (home/work) or everywhere? Purchased a Samsung Galaxy S7 one week ago. Love the phone and many of its feature. However, I have had a number of people telling me they can't hear me at all, my voice is breaking up, or the call is dropped---even happened when I called 611 and was trying to talk with a Verizon Wireless rep. He called me back and then called on our home phone. Had me turn off the phone while he sent some signal to it--signal strength still very poor. Sent me to level 2 tech who said I needed to run my phone off the WiFi. It did seem to work better but why should I have to use wifi when I should get good cell phone coverage according to rep? Plus it seems that I would have to turn the wifi off every time I left home or it will go on public wifi. Have been with Verizon for 12 years and never had this problem.
My wife has a new S7 and gets terrible service at home. I have the S5 with no issues. Any ideas what we can do to solve this/

HOW IS IT THAT SO MANY HAVE SAME ISSUE.dont care where towers are anyway.
Making sure your phone gets the best reception at home is important, DAVLOZ78. Let's look into this more in detail. Has this always been an issue? Does this only occur indoors or outdoors as well? Is she able to access the internet, make calls, and text?

dropped calls even in Austin Texas
Same.. I am told they can not provide me coverage now, that's why phone (2nd phone-replacement) won't work. Doesn't work traveling to Austin Texas either.
True
I am also having those same problems. I think this phone is horrible. I have gotten no satisfaction from Verizon. I never had this problem with any of my previous phones. It is my only phone when I go to my cabin and I feel really nervous that if there is an emergency, I will not have phone service.
KMP1691,
Having reliable service at all times is extremely important so I completey undrestand your frustration with this matter. I would like to take a closer look at your service concenrs to better assist. What's your zip code? Do you exprience issues everywhere or just one location?

I do experience it in a variety of places. It works quite well in my home
zip of 55125, but works very poorly in my second home zip code of 54745.
This is my greatest concern as we no longer have a landline there. All my
previous Motorola phones worked fine, but this Samsung does not work. It
has also failed at my moms house in the 55003 zip. I have been a Verizon
customer for 28 years and this is by far the worst service I have ever
received. I want my phone replaced with a motorola product.

This has always been an issue. We tried a new Sims card and that didn't help. The phone works great when she has a signal. The WIFI works great. She can't make calls or Text most of the time. I have the Galaxy S5 and it only gets one or two bars were we live. She don't get any bars. We live 6 miles east of 80601.
Dave
DAVLOZ78,
We appreciate you reaching out about this. We know having a reliable connection is very important and we want to make sure we're not leaving out any options for you. Does the phone experiencing the issue have any available updates? You can check in Settings > System Updates. Is she using Advanced Calling on her phone?

I too have noticed poor reception. I upgraded from a Galaxy 5 - which was pretty good in rural areas. The 7 seems to have a weak antenna - more dropped calls. Also fewer bars at home, but I can live with that - it's the calls out in the country I am worried about. We have Verizon specifically for the great coverage on the road. Dissappointed in my new phone.
Will switching from global to LTE/CDMA or LTE/GSM/UMTS help? Any other fixes to try?
LTE/CDMA
yes I do and its a new phone, drop calls all the time
JUST ORDERED NEW SIM. IM PRAYING THE GREMLINS WILL GO AWAY. SOON. IT BE SAD IF THE INSANITY CONTINUES AFTER THAT.

I have a data connection issue. When I purchased 2 of the Samsung Galaxy S7 back in June the phones worked great. Then when the latest system upgrade came out back in July, the phones are junk. I'm so frustrated as tech support hasn't been able to fix the problems. The issues are this screen overlay crap, the screen timeout always goes back to 30 seconds instead of staying at 10 minutes that I set in settings and then Internet connection has slowed up quite a bit. The Internet connection is not just contained at home. I've tried at different locations as well as WiFi and I get same thing, takes forever to upload a page. I can't use any pre-installed or downloaded apps as I get this message about detecting screen overlay. Go to settings and turn it off. There is no such topic or feature in settings, there is no option to turn off screen overlay. Tech support doesn't know much additional I'm on hold forever while they research it. They told me the screen overlay feature was added in the last update. If it's not broken, leave it alone. I'm so frustrated, this phone is junk now
I had issues after the update, also.
Verizon ended up sending me a replacement.
It has the previous version on it. It keeps prompting me to update it, but I refuse to install it.
Hopefully there will be a stable update soon.
Thanks for response. Noone knows how to fix the problems. The data connection so much slower, this screen overlay crap. Can't use any of my apps or send pictures as this screen overlay message comes on but there is no option to turn it off. Then the screen timeout always goes back to 30 seconds instead of 10 minutes like I set. Every time you try to read something then the screen goes black. Verizon continues to tell me they have to research the issue and how to correct it. They have no clue
I agree.
They swapped out my sim card twice before believing me.
Bribie78,
We always want you to have a phone that is functioning at peak performance. Have you tested the phone in Airplane Mode to see if WiFi speeds improve? Have you tested the phone in Safe Mode? http://spr.ly/6586B2fyk

BRIBIE78,
We certainly want you to be able to enjoy your device at full capacity. To take care of the screen overlay you go to -> settings > apps > settings (gear icon) > draw over other apps > apps with permission > select any app that has "yes" and disable. If any questions please let us know.

I noticed dropped calls after I upgraded to S7 now my wife upgraded to the Note 7 and she can't even make calls in the house.
I just switched from the M9 to the S7 and I have a noticeably weaker signal. It is not just a matter of the bars showing less, my internet will be sooooo slow. My friend still has a M9 (verizon) and when we were on the lake a 1/2 mile from my house and we has to use her phone to play Pandora cause my reception kept getting interrupted.
Any help Verizon???
jgomez69 let's make sure we pick up those dropped calls. What zip code are you in? Is this outside as well?

I live in zip code 79849. Dropped calls are an issue outside also but not as much depending what side of the house I am on.
was the friend's service with verizon??
jgomez69, one way to improve coverage in and the around the house is with wifi calling. Is wifi available? I upgraded from the S5. Spend most of my time at my desk in my office and NEVER had an issue with reception. Now that I upgraded to S7, people constantly tell me I am cutting out. I replaced the phone with a new one when the Verizon tech also couldn't hear me...he had me switch it over to WiFi and noticed it too. Sooooo frustrated...would rather turn my S5 back on at this point. At first I heard the Samsung may have a fix coming because it was an issue on the S4 or S5 or something. Super ridiculous that you spend so much on a new phone, get locked in for 2 years and it won't function properly. I would expect that 2 years later they would have better quality hardware (if that is the issue) or at least better...something. Has anyone heard anything directly from Samsung on this issue? I keep hearing it is an issue for a lot of people. Ready to just leave to a new carrier at this point as they are offering to buy this contract out. Why shouldn't I at this point? Even after more than a decade with Verizon. If anyone has anything that may fix this PLEASE let me know.
Thanks!
Had the same problem. I went to the Verizon store and they changed my sim card. Said it should work. Will see.
Yes. Thanks. I'll try the store
Changing the SIM card didn't help my phone. Half the time I can't even download apps or even use some of them because the signal is so weak. With my Blackberry, a weak signal merely slowed things down but rarely flat out refused to try as my S7 has. I hope there's a new OS update which will make this phone a better device, because I'm pretty unhappy with it so far!

I purchased my phone in March have taken it back at least 4 times gone though two sim cards and one phone exchanged and I still have the same problem. The reception is so bad that the person I'm calling can only hear me when I'm standing in the Verizon store, the only help I keep getting from the store rep is it the sim card. I have been with Verizon over 10 years and have never had such poor service. I am about at the end of my rope with this phone and service
JANELLE348, I feel exactly the same way. Long-time Verizon customer and I thought I was really getting one of the best phones out there, but I've never been unhappier with any of my phones. It's a great phone but the signal is so horrible most of the time, that I can barely do anything with all the wonderful apps I was supposed to have access to. They're installed but using them, you better be somewhere with a great signal. At this point, I think that may be HEAVEN! SMH....
Yes. It has been a nightmare. I loved my Samsung 5 until they upgraded it and all I had was problems. They said my phone was too old to handle the updates. So I spent $600.00 for the "latest and greatest" S7 ... what a horrible experience it has been
What is to work out? Nothing has happened. No one seems to be able to fix it. ?
Same problem with my s7, had the s5 with no problems. My husband still has his s5. And it's perfect , good signal. It's not where we are, it's the phone. too many people are having the same problem.:smileysad:
I second this - IT IS THE PHONE!
If you don't want us to have the issues, then fix the phone and send us new ones. Or replace with another phone.
I keep seeing responses...."we want you to have good service...where is your zipcode that this is happening?" What does the zipcode have to do with it...the phone is terrible...its the phone! Not the location. Everyone keeps saying they HAD NO PROBLEM before in the same areas...that should be a clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I completely agree TROSENDA, this is the worst phone I've ever had. I can't believe I'm stuck with this lemon for another 21 months! It's a travesty!
And the answers we get here are just a lot of automated "lip service" and do nothing to resolve the problem.
My service tech at the Verizon Wireless store did give me some insider information that they are aware of the problem and there are a number of upgrades in progress (both structurally and internally) that should improve our service. For what it's worth, he asked me to continue to be patient.
I don't understand it either. I got this phone when it first came out. I had perfect reception/signal inside & out. Now for the last 2 weeks I have horrible signal and my location etc has not changed. I'm beginning to hate this phone and this is my 2nd one because the first one was defective!
PixieTingles07,
We understand that have a weaker signal would be frustrating. I would feel just as you do. Let’s get some details. Have you ever reset http://vz.to/2dCTVcK your device? We want to make sure we don’t install the problem back on the device. We would want to set the device back up completely clean. Is this something we can try?

I,too have noticed that this model has poor Reception when compared to other phones. Myself, and three other friends have the 7 and all have dropped calls, no service, etc where we used to have reception. All are on Verizon network. Would not recommend this phone.
LAUMAR16, we've noticed that you've been having issues with poor reception and dropped calls. When did these issues start? Did you recently update the software on your phone? Have you powered your phone off/on since this issue started?
NOTHING has helped. It was a problem from day one for all 4 phones that i mentioned. Tyne reception on the S5 was so much better. I drop calls where before i didn't. Somedays, it's so bad i can't even hear the other person. I went to a Verizon store with my friend who was having the same problem and they were extremely unhelpful. "I dont know what you want us to do about it. " FIX THE ISSUE OR GIVE NEW PHONES. that's how you fix it. And. Dont tell me i have to pay more money. Not helping.
LAUMAR16

I just bought a Galaxy S7 and the reception is my house and outside is minimal. What I don't understand is that my S4 signal strength was strong in these locations ... going back to the Verizon store, not hopeful.
The S4 was probably connected to the band 13 and the new phone to band 4 or 2.
still having issues- thought improvements might have been made by now. I'm in 81101, my friend is in 81321 and the other friend is in 81144--- we travel a lot all over Colorado and just notice that where we used to have coverage with the S5, we no longer get reception on the S7-- many more dropped calls. poor connection/quality of calls .
We have the same problem with the S7 with calls cutting in and out insomuch you can't have a conversation. This happens both indoors and outdoors. Our S4, S5 and iPhones have NO issues. We've replaced the SIM card and phone as well with no luck. We're very frustrated and unhappy with the call quality on the S7. Has anyone found satisfaction from Verizon with this yet?
