Download driver from here. If you have Win XP, Vista, or 7, following link should work.
Samsung_Mobile_USB_Driver_V1.3.550.0_SCH-i500_Fascinate.msi
You will need to save it on your PC and then run it. After it is executed, you may connect Fascinate and it will connect. Let me know if it didn't and what error (if any) you received.

Hey Blackfoot1070,
You don't need to use Vcast on your computer to transfer files, pics, music, or videos. I've found the basic commands like send, move, copy, play, or just drag & drop, to be a lot simpler and less problematic. Once you've transferred them to your computer you can treat them like any other file.

You don't need Vcast Apps to transfer music and pictures. Once you mount the Fascinate, you can simply drag and drop the files into a media directory on the Fascinate.

I have tried that download 6 times today, and nothing is working. No usb connection, other that to charge the battery, and no recognition from the PC. I talked to support, but Samsung reps are not available on Sunday. Guess I'll have to waste another day on the phone.

Uncleslappy,
Does the USB symbol show up when you close the Run ToolLauncher-Bootstrap.exe window? If it does, pull down the top of the screen where you normally turn on/off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Airplance. You should see "USB connected" as well. Hold your finger on USB connected for a few seconds, and you should see the option to mount your fascinate.

While my Korean is a little shaky, I believe this means you need to uninstall your USB device and let Windows automatically reinstall it. You can check this by going into Device manager and checking if there is an issue with one of the USB devices. Once it is reinstalled, you should be able to mount the Fascinate and transfer files.

Look I don't know if this will be helpful but I do not have any installed drivers from Samsung on my Win 7 64 bit PC or my Win XP 32 bit PC. My Fascinate when first plugged in I get a pop-up asking me if I want to go to Verizon and download some junk from them, I choose NO, after that I get in the notification bar on Fascinate a message about wanting to tranfer files. I click on it, it will ask me if I want to mount SD card, I choose yes and windows pops up with a message asking me what I want to do like view files.

About 2 months ago when everyone was having this issue, a Verizon tech posted this:
Noah from Verizon Wireless on Connecting to a PC:
If you intend to transfer files between your SCH-I500 (Fascinate) handset and your computer, then you won’t need to install a driver. All you would need to do is to set the phone to mass storage and have a memory card inserted in the device for it to be recognized by your computer.
Ensure that the Memory Card is properly inserted into the device > Ensure that the USB mode is set on Mass Storage on the phone: Select Menu, Settings, Select USB settings, Select Mass storage even if already selected, Press Home key to return to the home screen.
NOTE: FOR Windows Vista/XP/7 OPERATING SYSTEM >Make sure that USB debugging is unchecked: Select Menu, Applications, Development, Uncheck all three options (USB debugging, Allow mock location, Stay Awake).
NOTE: FOR MAC COMPUTER >Make sure that USB debugging is checked: Select Menu, Applications, Select Settings, Development , Check USB debugging and uncheck other options (Allow mock location and Stay Awake)
*Connect the USB data cable to the device and a laptop or PC * After the USB icon appears in the Notification Drawer, pull it down * Select USB Connected * Select Mount > On the PC, navigate to the Removable Disk assigned to the device.
This can be done through the automatic pop up screen or My Computer. Drag and drop (copy and paste) files from other locations of your PC to this folder.
Make sure that the USB cable is a Samsung genuine accessory.
Here is the step by step method that I use for my PC:
Transferring the Fascinate's files to a PC:
- Set phone to mass storage: Go to Menu > Settings > USB Settings > USB Mode > Mass Storage > Home.
- Assuming that you have a PC go to either Computer or My Computer. Note which devices are present, for example DVD Drive (F) or maybe Flash Drive (G).
- Connect the cable to your phone / PC. Note a new device should now be visible on your PC. Mine came up as Removable Disk (I). You can later rename this to say Fascinate (I) if you like.
- Pick up the phone and go to Notifications > USB Connected > Mount.
- Back to the PC click on Removable Disk ( ) > DCIM > Camera. You will see all of your picture and video files here. You can view, send to, move, edit, copy, delete, mail, play, or whatever, right from here if you want.
