Since my S7 nougat update my screen no longer requires password when I resume using the phone ... I used to have to use my fingerprint. I have gone into the system settings and reset the screen lock options several times but will not work. Bad security.
Solved this myself --- since making the security changes I had only "restarted" the phone... I had not turned it complete off and then back on. This made the difference.
