text messages duplicated?

I have a Samsung Galaxy 5S.  Using Verizon Messages+ 5.5   The app is duplicating text messages by taking older text messages and intertwining them with messages I have just sent.   It appears random.   I have deleted the entire conversation and power cycled the entire phone.  I still have fragments of older text messages appearing at random within the conversation I am currently trying to have.

What should I try next?

I am still using Message + Version 5.5.1. I have called the tech support number and they have been pretty helpful. We have gone through another round of forcing a stop, clearing the data and the cache. This time I uninstalled updates (which were not recent) and reinstalled updates. I let the tech at the 800 support number into my cell phone using the rescue app. So far the problem hasn’t reoccurred. I am not optimistic it is gone for good, I think as the data and the cache grows it will return and then I will likely switch to the Samsung App and remove the Verizon app.

Shut down the Message + app from your Settings and delete both the cache and data from the +app. Then  install the stock Samsung message app. from your phone.  In most cases this will solve your message problem with the S5.

JudyP613, Let's get your text messages performing correctly with the Verizon Messages application. When did this issue begin? Any recent updates to the application or phone? How often are you experiencing the text message duplicates? Please share details so we can get to the bottom of this, together.

No recent updates to the app or the phone that I am aware of.

The duplicates are happening daily.

The app will occasionally double send.

It will also repeat old previously sent messages randomly and garbled.

JudyP613,

That's got to be terribly annoying! We'll definitely help fix it. Did you have a chance to try what GalaxyClass suggested by chance? Has Verizon Messages always done this or is it something that started after you had been using the phone for a while? Any event - such as an update or new app installed - that happened right before this started?
