I will be in Europe in October and will have my Samsung Galaxy 3 with me. I don't plan to use it except in emergencies so I don't have a global calling plan. My question is, will the GPS (with Google Navigation or Google Maps) work in Europe? If I use it to find my way in a city, are charges incurred?

If you opt into a Global Data package for 25$ for 100MB, you can have your GPS work in Europe. My suggestion is if you have to use it, after you use it, turn off your data so you're not billed any more data, and screenshot the directions so you have them as a pic. (Screenshot using home and power button at same time, or if you have motion enabled, swipe your hand across the screen left to right)

You can save a map offline prior to traveling if you download the map while on wifi. https://support.google.com/gmm/answer/3273567
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
