Please Verizon, bring it to us!
Come on Verizon, give us a date. I want to pre order this now! I dont want to switch carriers, as verizon does have the best coverage here. I will be buying the Note 2 full price as I do not want to lose my unlimited data. Contract up this Feb.
http://www.samsung.com/us/article/the-next-big-thing-galaxy-note-ii
It says here is coming soon to verizon, so we gotta wait and see. I really want the Note 2!
Naturally hot air rises, and cold air sinks. So there will be inlet vents at the bottom, and outlet at the top. With is being so thin I am wondering how they could help the heat move more quickly to the top to vent out. What materials, and how is it arranged.
I tried looking on youtube for a tear Down but unless i missed something i haven't found it Yet, i also want to find the teardown of the new Razr / Razr Maxx take a peek at them as Well
Just did "pre-orders" for T-Mobile and waiting for AT&T and Verizon and see what the boss says about those. I know we have to get at least the Verizon one. The T-Mobile one unlocked should work on AT&T on all networks so we may forgo that one.
Can they even confirm if it will be available or not?
Otherwise I would totally change carriers
Yes it will be on all carriers. Samsung website shows all top 5 carriers are getting the Note 2, and has been that way for the past few months. There is also FCC records of the Verizon Galaxy Note 2.
On the samsung website it says:
Carrier Availability
Optimized for the fastest 4G LTE* and HSPA+ 42 networks, the Galaxy Note II will be available through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular by mid-November.

Actually, on the US Cellular site under the SGN2 pre-order page, it lists the device as shipping by the end of October. So there's another incident of untrue speculation.
Also, as for the November 20 release date from that "email"? I call BS. Yes, it is entirely possible that VZW would be the last to get it (mostly so they can fill it with bloatware and lock the boot-loader), though I hope I'm wrong there. Considering how close to the chest VZW plays things like this, a leak like an email like that just seems preposterous. Seems like a troll to me.
Part of me wants to believe that VZW was waiting until AT&T announced their release in an effort to trump them. Part of me...
We'll see tonight!
Literally, just got off the phone with Verizon Wireless rep. He indicated that there wasn't info available, but then wait. He read that information just posted to his computer. Note 2 will be available for preorder tonight after midnight online only. Price is $299 on contract and that the ship date is 10/29/12!
Man do I hope you're right.
It's actually kinda funny. I was in my local VZW store Monday looking at new phones and mentioned my interest in the Note 2. The reps could have absolutely sold me a phone that night as my upgrade has been burning a hole in my pocket. They both told me to hold off until today. I've been told that the Store Reps often don't get any device info until about a week out from launch. Sounds like they were trying to tell me something.
I'll tell you this, say what you will about bad experiences with different aspects of VZW Customer Service; I absolutely love going into my local shop. The reps are honest, and they actually enjoy keeping up on gadget news and talking about it!
If the 29th is right, I'll definitely be looking forward to going there on Monday and working with them again.
Yeah, i just called back to verify with a 2nd VZW rep and he also confirmed preorders begin at 12:01am
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/10/24/samsung-galaxy-note-2-verizon-price-leaks/
While the four other Samsung Galaxy Note 2 U.S. carriers have disclosed the Galaxy Note 2 price, Verizon remains mum on a Galaxy Note price or release date. However, thanks to a leaked Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) sheet, it looks like we might finally have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Verizon price.
In addition to the Verizon HTC DLX information, the Android Central MAP sheet leak also reveals an extremely important detail regarding the Verizon Galaxy Note 2, which while official, still doesn’t have pricing or a release date.
The MAP indicates that Verizon, like AT&T, Sprint and U.S. Cellular will likely be offering the Galaxy Note 2 for $299.99 on-contract. This was expected, but now it looks like it will be the case. This means that those who are looking to pick up the new phablet will have to shell out a minimum of $300 to secure the device on-contract.
I just called VZW as well, and the rep said that it will be available for pre-order online at 12:01 tonight (so technically October 25, 2012 @ 12:01am). However, I was told that it is going on sale in stores on NOVEMBER 29th, not October 29th. The rep says they are doing this for a Black Friday release. She then went on to state that this means if you pre-order your phone, you should receive it a few days before the in-store release, which means if you pre-order it tonight at 12:01am, you probably will not receive it until the end of November. The rep was reading verbatim off of her computer screen when I called.
A month+ long pre-order? That doesn't sound like something Verizon would do...
Furthermore, I've never met any Verizon rep. that knew anything about anything, haha...
Also, about the Multi-Window stuff, it was a patch that came after the initial release for the Euro phones, might be the same thing for the US phones. But it's a safe bet that there will be a way to enable it shortly after release.
From Digital Trends.com's review:
The International version of the Note 2 has a multiscreen feature similar to what we saw on the Note 10.1. Currently, the U.S. versions do not have this, but it may arrive via a software update down the line, just as it did internationally.
So no multiscreen out of the box, but if this November 29th crap is true then it may be out by then anyway...
I was also thinking, sure I can see them holding off until November 29 for Black Friday deals (which are utterly stupid imho), but I'm not very sure that a phone that is $299 on a 2-year contract is the kind of thing that they would push for that. $299 seems too high for a phone on Black Friday. Especially When you consider its been out on every other carrier already for $299 or more. I very seriously doubt they would subsidize it even further to give a sub $300 deal.
Not to mention for Black Friday that they will have a plethora of Windows phones coming out, possibly a new Nexus phone by then, and also possibly the "HTC DNA," all of which I suspect will have a $199 price tag or lower. This seems more in the range of things they would offer for Black Friday. They've also never launched a new device for Black Friday, but rather opt for really good deals on existing models.
Also, I can't think of one time that Verizon announced they were getting a phone and created this long of a wait between pre-orders and shipping (iPhone 5 doesn't count as most shipping dates got pushed back due to the phone being out-of-stock). Yes they need time to Verizon-ize the phone, but do you really think that Samsung has just been sitting on the devices over the past month or so? I'm sure they got versions out to U.S. retailers around the same time they got them to International so that U.S. could brand them. Though maybe not.
It may all be wishful thinking on my part, but it seems quite logical....not that everything VZW does is logical lol.
I completely agree with a lot of what you say, sBj. More times than not (actually, pretty much all of the time), I find myself scratching my head at the decisions that Verizon makes.
And just to clarify, Samsung has not "just been sitting on the devices"! These products take a long time to make, and assemble to the specifications for each provider, especially when you need millions of these things. Try counting to 20 million, it takes quite some time. Now imagine having to make an object as complex as the Note 2 20 million times... the point is, it takes time! But they also do not ship the phone out to the provider and say, here change it how you want. They involve, let's say Verizon for instance, in the design process after a certain point and say, this is our base model. What would you like changed (actually, it's more like Verizon tells Samsung we will sell your device, but only if you make these changes...). So Samsung has not just been sitting on these devices for weeks now, they have been working diligently to get these phones produced so that we can have them in our greedy little hands as soon as possible, so please do not blame Samsung. If you are going to blame anyone, blame big red. And another thing, you do no suspect that the "HTC DNA" is going to be $199, someone else found a document and posted it online. So you "read" that it will be sold for $199. Sorry for the rant, but those two things bothered me haha.
But in the end, we will all find out in just over three hours time what the details are (or maybe that is just wishful thinking also! LOL)
Great point Dave,
For those who said that verizon is going to start taking pre-order at 12:01am, please give me that number. I just came a verizon store, called another across town and even spoke to a rep online and no 1 has a clue when verizon is releasing the note 2. I guess people in Jersey are not in the same lines of communication as other.
Havoc, just call the support line. I dial *611 and then just say I'm trying to upgrade my phone. Some of the reps just have no clue what they are talking about, so you have to be firm with them. Just explain that you were in a Verizon store today, and they told you that the Note 2 would be available for pre-order tonight at midnight, but to call the customer support line for more details. It doesn't matter if this is true, it just gives the rep a reason to believe what you are saying is true. Then, if they say that they still don't know, just tell them that the person you talked to in the store said that Verizon just sent something out this afternoon to all of their employees giving details about the release. Ask them to please look it up for you to confirm any and all information. Feel free to tell them $299.99 w/ new two year agreement, marble white and whatever that brushed aluminum look color is being called (butt-ugly gray is what it should be called) are the two color options, and pre-order available tonight but the shipping date/in-store sale is why you are calling because you have heard mixed answers with regards to this. It's either October 29th, as someone else on this forum posted, or November 29th as I reported. I think maybe the other person was just told the 29th and just assumed October, while I had the rep repeat several times November for me, and then she said it's because of a big push they are making for the holiday sales and more specifically for Black Friday. Hope this helps.

But these pics were released today from Samsung. This makes me worry a bit... let's just keep our fingers crossed. I hope you are right.

Surprised? We aren’t. The confirmed details are in: Verizon has locked the Galaxy Note 2 bootloader just as it did with the release of the SGS3 on its network. Want to try out a custom ROM on your screaming fast Note 2? Sorry, Big Red subscriber. You’re definitely out of luck.

That's why I am taking the wait and see approach on it. It doesn't bother me honestly. Most of the devices I use are for development, and usually go into the drawer after 4-6 months.
Is there anyway to watch the release of the Note 2, whether it be on Directv or online?
DaveCFprez, give it a few months and some genius will get that bootloader unlock just like they did with the gs3. you do know that you can load custom ROM to the gs3? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, just posting some facts.
Im extremely disappointed with Verizon Wireless right now. It turns out that the Verizon variant of the Galaxy note 2 might have a Verizon branding on the home button. For me, it looks awful and unnecessary. I dont get why they have to remind us every time that we are on their network. Check this out:

Thanks Havoc, gonna keep my eye on it.
Personally, I am more disappointed with Verizon not getting the phone out sooner, not the emblem on the home button. But to each his own
Honestly the button can say Coca-Cola I just want the phone

Anyone know if there is going to be a live stream of the release party tonight in new york or some way to watch it?
What the hell? It's as if there's no event at all and all the tech blogs failed to tell us that the event has been cancelled or something.
Kanye West probably came out, and snatched the microphone from the opening speaker and said that the iPhone is the best phone of all time, OF ALL TIME! (Pop culture reference to when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift at an awards show during her acceptance speech to say that Beyonce's music video was the best video of all time, OF ALL TIME!! - just so that no one thinks I like apple or am promoting apple, because I'm not)
some good info here

Note2 subject-I just got off the phone with a VZW rep and he said at 12:01 am tonight I can purchase it online,I told him I will wait till 8 am tomorrow so I can order it overnight delivery, he said it ships tomorrow if ordered,so I hope his email he was reading is right,i even tried to get him to forward it ,his email that is,he wouldnt,so lets hope at 12:01 it is indeed here, man I wished online verizon wireless would give the option to overnight delivery HINT
Well there's no way i'm paying full price all at one time so i will have to add a line for $40.00 a month extra and switch the Note 2 to my current number and my Iphone 4s to the new line. Then i will cancel the new line, pay the $375.00 ETF and keep the Note 2 on the primary number.
Just spoke to my Verizon rep and he said I can pre-order online tonight, or tomorrow in the store, but the phone won't be available to ship until the end of November.
I wonder if VW will offer the bigger (internal) phones right out of the gate? Or will the smallest (16mb) be the only size offered?
Anyone know If they charge credit card when one pre orders, or when phone ships?

yes the home button is branded.

$40.00 a month
$299.00 phone
$375.00 ETF

$714.00
All I really want to know if this phone will work when traveling abroad as a world phone in europe etc.
Registered just so I can post this. If the 16gb is the only version available at launch, its a travesty. At the very least 32GB should have made it to our shores. You can't tell me, Samsung didn't know that most Note 2 fans are drawn to the phone's versatility. How much versatility can 16gb, scratch that, 9gb provide? I understand one can buy an SD card. But apps 2 SD isn't native. Lets say all of us, that have been drooling for this to drop, decide to pull the trigger on the 16gb. What happens if they decide to release the 32gb or 64gb in December, or early 2013? I guess those of us on contract are left holding the bag huh. I can't put into words how painful it would be to have to pay $350 to break my contract and then have to drop another 440 for 16 gigs. Hope it isn't so.

I agree.
And if you think about it, BIG RED will probably only release the smallest version knowing most will snap it up. Then, say - right before the x-mas holiday make the mid available, then next Spring/Summer the 64mb.
Blu-ray sales are like that. Regular movie first, then the special edtion, then the director's cut. Although blu-rays are wayyyy cheaper than paying full price for a mobile.
If the phone isn't coming out/delivered until 11/29, what good does it do to pre-order? Maybe by 11/29 there will be a 32GB model available. Just asking, because I'm wondering if it's worth pre-ordering or just picking up in store?
Dave, Cory,
You guys are right on the money. It just makes sense. Put the 16gb out first, see how strong demand is. Then stagger launch the 32 and 64gb knowing clearly how much you should need to meet demand. If all 3 sizes were released at the same time, how many would even look the 16gb's way? How many retailers would have it sitting on the shelf, until a price drop was forced?
Its smart business, but its awful for the customer. Your phone ages everyday and hence, its value. Less time to burn off your contract between now and the Note 3 or w/e you plan to replace this modern marvel with.
For a person like myself, who's phone was stolen, yet, still on contract, and who's bill kicks in on 11/11, this puts me between a rock and a hard place.
Alright, just to hear it for myself, I had to call Verizon. First person that answered said it was available at midnight. I then asked in what size and she said she had to transfer me because she didn't know the specifics. Next guy she transfered me to said he didn't know anything about the Note 2. After I said check ur system again, he found it. After a little bit of research, he said it was going to be available in all sizes like the iPhone, pre-order at 12:01 am, but no indication on when we will get it after that. He said more than likely 2 weeks, but said he is guessing until Verizon confirms the actual date. I will be waiting like everyone else.
thanks for the update MJ, I guess we will play the waiting game. (glad I'm on the West coast)
They said available for pre-order at 12:01 on the East Coast, so 1 more hour for all of us really. Waiting game like DaveCFprez said.
How do you guys feel about the Verizon logo on the home button?
As long as I get the phone, it could have a Hello Kitty symbol on there for all I care
What am I thinking, I have to wait 2.5 hrs. Read the clock wrong.
Verizon is REALLY pissing me off... a MONTH later then everyone else on release. Locked boot loader, UGLY home button... Why? Why? Like we aren't aware we are using a Verizon phone? That home button will do absolutely nothing but piss people off... What good could it possibly do? If every other carriers coverage wasn't SO bad I would switch in a heartbeat and I am still thinking about it... Just tired of the way Verizon treats their customers...
agreed MJ
the small home button doesn't take away anything from this incredible phone. I'm just wondering what the price differences will be between the 16,32,64 versions. (*IF* they release all of them at the same time)
I can deal with the home button... I can't deal with a MONTH after everyone else... A MONTH!
32, and 64 will not be released. Samsung has never made any from the looks of it. If they made some they would be sold in Korea which they are not selling any in other country.
Sure hope this is correct! I so want a 32 or 64GB Note 2!
I could care less...better than a large logo on the top of the phone. At least we're getting the phone this time around.
MJ21 wrote:As long as I get the phone, it could have a Hello Kitty symbol on there for all I care

That is the question they couldn't answer. My guess is that they only release the 16gb and 32gb at the same time with a $50 price difference. Seriously?! November 27?! Why in the world would you start selling a phone on the week of Thanksgiving? If your phone ships on Tuesday, who knows when you'll get it. Thanksgiving is the holiday that people travel most, now no one will be around when their devices arrive so no one will be around to sign for the shipment and then they will get sent back to VZW hahaha ohh man.. If that date is true, VZW sucks and really dropped the ball on this one about as much as one could imagine. Seriously poor decision making VZW.

Don't look at me >.< I just did a search and that's what popped up.
Anyone know what the international question was for? Does it really matter how we answered that? I'm speaking strictly of the phone? Would it be different if we answered ye or no?
I have to wait until 17 Nov as that is when my upgrade is due. I can update my other line from my tablet, but I want to remove that from my account, so I might have to wait. Regardless, if it isn't shipping until 27 Nov, I can just get it on the day my upgrade is available.
For those of you who were eligible for an upgrade, were you given a $50 discount?
Also, what size is available for pre-order? 16, 32, or 64gb?
Just remember when you upgrade you will lose unlimited data the only way to keep it is to pay retail.
It's not showing on my 'pick phone' page for my upgrade, anyone know how to get it with my upgrade/discount, or do i have to wait till nov. when it ships?
On a Good Note... The Verizon version says it should have multiwindow. T-Mobile doesn't so far and it is the first to release. IF they are getting it then they have to wait for an update or void their warranty to get it. Which could take 1+ months for them to get it.
I believe if you select pre-order it will ask you which line you want to upgrade and it will look to see if it is upgradeable.

Is everyone sure that this is a legit Verizon page? I can't get to it from verizonwireless.com. Has anyone been able to get to it without starting at the shop.verizonwireless link??
it's legit, I'm in and halfway through ordering it as an upgrade :smileyhappy: only the 16, but I honestly dunno what I'd do with more, since I've got a 32gig micro already

I went to the T-Mobile store today and for the first time I held one in my hand. 'it was impressive!' (not that I'm jump shipping to T-Mobile...)
I wanted to compare two colors but they were only able to show me the Titanium Gray. It wasn't too bad but I really wanted to compare it with the Marble White side by side.
The guy at the store keeps on preferring me the white one as he ordered his white and that white one will have more resell value. (dunno if that's true)
Has anyone compared the two?? Which color do you guys prefer and are you getting??
I've had black phones all this time so I was considering White, but wonder if I would get tired of it soon...
I'm just thankful that Verizon DID NOT CHANGE THE DESIGN OF THE PHONE!!!
but I do not appreciate the logo on the home button, but I'll find a way to take it off somehow.
and 11/27 ship date is just intimidating... but what can you do...
I originally wanted to get the white. However, after looking at the pictures of the white and grey note 2s, I decided to get the grey titanium one because the dark color kind of hides the verizon wireless logo on the home button. With the white version, you can easily see the brand even from far away. I dont know thats just me.
Gray is a fingerprint magnet. It hides dirt and dust better. White hides scuffs, and fingerprints better. White from XDA isn't as prone to dust under the screen as the gray. So each has their pros and cons.
What do you mean by dust under the screen? Do you mean like dust getting inside the screen of the phone? Do you know why the gray is more prone to that than the white? I might change my order if its necessary hahahaha.
On XDA people who own gray ones keep saying they see specs of dust under the screens. When compared to the white ones no one has said they have dust. I do not know how accurate it is or why it happens, but that's what people notice.
