Please Verizon, bring it to us!
I considered the DNA for about 10 minutes, then I realized:
1: no removable battery - deal breaker
2: no split screen feature
3: no S pen
For a 1080 screen that can't possibly be appreciated on a mobile device I wasn't about to give up on the best smartphone battery in the market.
It does however look much better then the note...
Personally, I wouldn't go as far as to say it looks "better". It's slick,
yes, but so is the Note II. Plus the Note II comes in white which I like.
The only things this phone had on the Note are the resolution and the
notification night on the back, which looks a bit off but is nonetheless
useful I'm sure.

i could have likely dealt with all of the above. the real deal breaker for me is no removeable storage on a 16 gig unit??? and by the time you throw android, sunse UI, and bloatware on it, i'm guessing that there is less than 12 gigs formatted, and available to the user. 12 gigs. in 2012 (almost 2013), that's just absurd.
Actually 11gigs...just sad. Plus, with the Note II I read we should get 50 gigs of
Dropbox storage for free.
Just got done speaking with someone on "Chat Now", guy said it will ship on the 27th. He said if it were to ship early it'll only be at most a day or two, so between the 25th-27th. Just thought I'd let you guys know.
let's hope. there was another phone though (don't recall....maybe the nexus or the sIII??) that had the dropbox offer, but specifically excluded the verizon customers. i think 2 carriers got the free storage and 2 carriers didn't.

Actually I talked to them last week and the said it was going to ship this week.. But then again the In-store Reps haven't even heard about when they are getting them, and they usually have about a week advance notice. So you never know. Might be pushed back even more.
I personally don't think think the reps on chat have very much more information other than what we have at this point. They are probably seeing the same date on a sheet of paper as we see when we check our orders. While I wish the date for delivery would be sooner, I feel like the 27th is going to be all we can hope for at this point.
That said, I think Verizon is being ridiculous regarding the delay on releasing the device so long after every other carrier. While the Note definitely only appeals to a certain user group, there are those that have jumped ship for the Note 2 and gone to other carriers simply due to the Note 2 being available elsewhere. A buddy of mine, who runs a small 15 person design company recently decided not to renew with Verizon for all of this company cell lines and switched to AT&T simply because he and several of his employees wanted the Note 2. In my area, the coverage is comparable between VZW and ATT so it wasn't a big loss on coverage for them. I'm sure Verizon can afford to lose a few customers, but for what? To give the DNA a few days to shine before the Note 2 jumps ahead?
It seems like shipping date is the 27th, in-store release date is the 29th?
I'd have to agree. The phones would've already shipped if we were getting them this week and next week has Thanksgiving on Thursday. I doubt verizon will be shipping on Monday so it looks we have a couple of weeks to wait.
I received the NFC tags and the kickstand case today. Man the size is just right while holding it in my hand and doesn't feel big holding it by my ear. Can't wait!
Is Verizon ignoring Note 2 in favor of Droid? It seem like to me
I doubt Verizon is ignoring the Note II. They are trying to promote the Droid line. They have the DNA in the Droid line exclusively for now. Verizon believes that the DNA and the Note II are directly competing. If they give the DNA an extra week then it will sweep up the people that want the Galaxy Note II with flashy specs. It is clear people in this thread are not falling for this trick.
This whole release has been a wreck. I consider the Note II unchallenged at this point. The DNA is nice, but with the lack of the features mentioned it is no match for the Note II.
There is no way I'm picking the HTC over Galaxy Note II. The DNA seems like they're trying to cover up an average girl with make-ups and flashy outfit, it's all on the surface.
Hey guys just giving you a heads up I work at Best Buy and we received a noticed today stating that we will receive a shipment of the Galaxy Note 2s on the 27th. Which will then be available to sell and fulfill all preorders on the 29th. We have received the fully functional demo unit and after playing with it today I am highly amazed with it.
I honest think Verizon rather pay attention to HTC/Motorola because they are what give Verizon an advantage over At&t in the first place in my option.. So that why they wait so long to release Note 2.. I notice that they take down Note 2 preorder page from the front page, but keep Iphone5?
The more forum sites i read, the more people i read are getting the Note 2 on Verizon...This is like the biggest, quietest release ever. I might have to line up on the 29th because i think there will be small quantities and if i wait until after work, they'll be sold out.
It'll be sold out. The Max in stores will be 5 in each. Online will have more. This is what happened with the other carriers.
Sounds Like a Heck of Deal Tidbits i think the Same will happen With the Wii U it will sell "Quickly" as Well.! b
5 titanium and 5 white in each store?? Those are incredibly low numbers...
5 total all titanium grey. White has to be ordered online initially.
I'm still undecided as to which color........I think the white would make it nerdy-looking when i have it up to my ear.
Thoughts?
I preordered titanium just because I'm sick of white because of my white iPhone, but also because I think the screens look better with a darker exterior.
Sent from my iPhone
The white color of my Iphone is the only thing I like about it :smileyhappy: reason I preordered the white Note2!
To me the screen stands out more on the white version. I've actually held
each and I don't care much for the fake metal look of the titanium one.

Only 10 more day until GN2 ships The time is slowly Approaching :smileysad:. I am off work that week so it works out great :smileyhappy: The only thing I need to happen is have Otterbox to start shipping the cases for the GN2 . Then I will be all set.
Just a thought, wouldn't the otter box make the GN2 a lot bigger than it already is? I haven't seen the phone in person before, but I feel putting a case on it will make it even harder to put in your pocket anyways. So I never planned on casing it.
12 days for me. I'm gonna see if I can pick up the Marble White one at the store...
I heard that if we buy a $ 699 at VZW or $ 799 at Best Buy, the N2 we buy will only have the 3G access but not the 4G LTE while we are keeping the unlimited data plan, is that correct?
And if we buy the $ 699 at VZW or $ 799 at Best Buy, is it unlocked?
They are always unlocked. Block C rules. Any device whether subsidized or bought outright must be unlocked if they use Block C spectrum.
So no matter I buy it at VZW or BB, I will have it unlocked? And if so, why don't we just buy it at VZW, it is $ 100 off!
But I am concerning that whether it can only access the internet with 3G speed if we buy an off-contract phone at VZW.
If you buy it outright it'll work regardless of where you buy it. Keep in mind voice and text might not work if you go to s different carrier that is not CDMA. The Note 2 is not classed as a world phone.

Has anybody else checked their status lately? I get a bunch of "garbage" on the page...site is down or something is happening, ha!
Yeah, I'm seeing the same error (bunch of garbage characters) when checking my preorder status...
Hmmm...
Not unusual for corporate websites to be down on Sundays for routine
maintenance.

Like I've said all along... If they are going to ship them early, the date to do it is tomorrow, Monday the 19th. They use 2 day shipping, and they would not ship it over the holidays. I think it is quite a stretch for them to ship it tomorrow since Wednesday is supposedly the biggest travel day of the year, so there is really no reason to ship it early. I've heard that we should receive an email prompting us to go online and accept the terms and conditions of our orders, but ammo769 is correct, they will email you a tracking number and let you know that your order has shipped once it has left the warehouse. At this point, I'd say it is pretty safe to say that they are being shipped on the 26/27, and received on the 28/29.
Mine still has the chicken scratch...
I totally agree...it will either be Monday (19th) or Monday (26th) or Tuesday (27th) at the latest. One good thing about all of this whinning/speculation, November is flying by!
On a side note, does anyone know how to transfer contacts from a Mac to an android phone? I'm coming from an iPhone 4s that I sold. Also, anyone have any car mount recommendations or case recommendations that won't add too much bulk to the phone?
export your contacts from you Address Book and then import them to a GMail account. When you log into your device using your GMail it will auto import them.
I signed into my iCloud and exported them all into a file, created my gmail, and imported them into them.
Another place you can keep an eye on is your account that you used to order the GN2 with, when it ships or is about to be shipped your account will be charged. just my 2cents

Better on Google servers. Google servers uses less data and I trust Google servers being up for the long haul and mobile assistant may change before GMail.

Verizon is just a dirty company, in so many ways, and that is why I am frustrated. They throw their weight around and don't care at all about the customers, really.
They have been doing this since the beginning, by blocking and locking out standard phone features, that only those that liked to hack cell phones could get around. They are constantly doing self-serving, petty things with their plans and devices, with no regard for their customers and just hope that nobody will notice. They think they can get away with this because they have the most coverage...blah blah blah...
The only reason Verizon has delayed the Note 2 is because they wanted to give the DNA a chance to shine. They don't tell their customers ANYTHING and then give "guesstimates" at when things might be available and leave their customers to guess and speculate themselves. Most pre-orders they offer on new phones do, in fact, ship earlier than the "Ship By" date they often give.
It's these types of things that cause people to get frustrated in situations like this. They are nothing without customers, yet, they seem to forget that most of the time.
PS - If Verizon really does have the highest customer satisfaction, then I can't imagine what the other companies must be like, haha...
It is so true...I don't understand their decisions or how they make them???
Yes, it is true, they have annually been rated highest customer satisfaction...it does make me shudder, what the others are like!

Hey, let me live my dream, if only for tonight, ha!
It's funny but Verizon's phone may actually arrive with accessories. Best Buy hasn't received one thing in the stores even tho they had Sprints GN2 for awhile.
And of course while was there I had to ask the Samsung rep why Verizon was so late, but he just said he wasn't sure but speculated it was because they didn't want to pay extra to get it quicker or the home logo took them longer to make since they couldn't use the generic ones. Kind of sucked tho was at least hoping to see some of the cases at store.
Not to sound like a cheerleader for Verizon but the whole Verizon branding thing brings up an interesting point. Is it fair to say VZW doesn't care about the Note II? Because, if they are going so far as to brand their logo on the device can we really say that? Obviously they want that device associated with them or they wouldn't go through the trouble and longer wait. I do agree that at least it part they wanted the DNA out first tho which leads me to my second point.
I thought I remembered something about Verizon having some sort of partnership or ownership of the Droid name with Lucasfilm so I did a quick query and found the following on Wikipedia which may explain their strange loyalty to the Droid DNA. If you think about it most, if not all, Droid branded devices are on Verizon.
The brand name Droid is a trademark ofLucasfilm licensed to Verizon Wireless...November 6, 2009, release date of the Droid came just under a month after Verizon and Google announced that they had entered into an agreement[17] to jointly develop wireless devices based on the Android mobile platform.

That's just someone stating that you can preorder.
My order status page says estimated ship date 11/16/2012. Weird. My cc has not been charged yet.
Mrnetwork
If that is true you would be getting it today.

Friend who preordered here in Los Angeles has not shipped ... I guess there are only a few lucky ones...Mine is on the vehicle for delivery .. if its not delivered I will pick it up later tonight from fedex pickup location.
My ship date is the same Mrnetwork (11/16)... call verizon and they will give you the tracking number for your package so you can see when it will be delivered
That's the page I was using. I am not getting too excited since there is no tracking number and no courier listed and my cc has not been charged. I'll be happy if it actually ships today.
I'm on hold with Verizon, and while I was waiting, I checked my order status again and it no longer says estimated ship date 11-16-12. Now it says "We received your order and it is in process."
The CSR just came back on the line and says the ship date is Nov. 27. Rats. Stronger language might get me kicked off of here.
I thought you said the page showed estimated delivery date of the 27th? What number di you call to get info on your order?
You lucky people you! Hopefully you guys will get it today or tomorrow! Cheers!!! :smileyhappy:
Dang! Just ordered the Note ten minutes ago. 27th is the ship day. Sometimes earlier was the hope I received. I guess I will live with a DroidX with half the LCD screen blacked out for a few more days. The early ship post did prompt me to go ahead and pull the trigger on a $799 phone. Here is my old phone same price.

Well, so far there is no proof of anything getting shipped to anyone...Ugh, I was hoping to get this before Thanksgiving...
Same here but I don't think it is coming early. At least I have the case to coddle for a while.
if you dont mind my asking, where did you get the case? I cant believe Best Buy didnt have any yet in stores for the sprint or other GN2 and I hate ordering those online, but at this point, I prolly should get something til I can find the right one.
I also wonder if these folks arent getting their 'accessories' shipped early instead of phone.
I got mine from EBay to temporary hold me over until the otterbox case is released
I ordered this case:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008TX9268/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
This is the case I went with:

I don't want to use a screen protector as I want the S-Pen to work as intended, and I also figured it wouldn't fit well in some of my pockets, so I wanted something that offered full protection and that I could attach to anything. I'm fine with having it attach to my belt or outside of a pocket or something.
I am hoping that A screen protector will not inhibit the S-Pen to stop working
It does loose some sensitivity with a screen protector. I remember reading somewhere that Samsung recommends not using a screen protector with the S-Pen...
...but with that being said, here's a very informative post regarding protectors for the Note 2:
<Link to rooting website removed per the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service.>
ammo769 wrote:I am hoping that A screen protector will not inhibit the S-Pen to stop working
I used a Spigen Ultra Crystal with my original Note and had no problems with using the S Pen on the phone. I plan on using the same type of protector with the Galaxy Note II.
Well package was just delivered and all I could do was laugh!!! That will teach me to trust the information that Verizon Customer reps tell you when he clearly told me it was the Note II.. I got a sim card from fedex that required a signature. Oh well...I'm waiting along with the rest of you for November 27th. And no i'm not an iphone joker coming on this site.. i was honestly trying to give everyone a heads up with possible good news for everyone.
How can a rep not know that it's a SIM card and not the note2? And why wouldn't sim ship with the note2?

I also ordered the SPIGEN Steinheil Ultra-Crystal screen protectors on Amazon. I have one on my Iphone 4s and it does a good job. I was reading reviews on Amazon and it seems that it does not affect the s Pen. In fact, at least one person said it actually keeps the pen from slipping on the screen when you write.
The only bad thing is the fingerprints but you can just wipe it really easy.
I've been following along with the forum, also awaiting my GN2 that i pre-ordered (whats feels like an eternity ago!); but I came across this interesting bit of info on Phandroid.com and wanted to share their insight (they also mentioned Caitlin's post about her "phone" shipping early; ha!):
"
During the past two weeks I have spoken to two people in upper management at Verizon Wireless regarding the GN2 release. This post is for those that care about the conversation.
Both conversations happened with individuals no further than 3 levels down from the CEO. Keep in mind that many of the same questions were asked or mentioned multiple times and the same answer was not always repeated and thus I had to read between the lines.
Here is what I gathered.
Verizon did not sell the Note 1 (as we know) and was not confident enough that it would work on their network as planned so instead of releasing it when other carriers did, it instead allowed 1) field testers to use it for the past month as they have with much success and 2) allow US Cellular to sell the gray version (to test) since they share many towers.
Realizing the white version is much more popular, US Cellular is not allowed to release it until/after Verizon does (to avoid customers switching to US Cellular). Apparently Verizon and US Cellular share A LOT of towers and if you are in an area without VZLTE, USC may be a better option.
The release is targeted for Christmas shopping and VZ did not see enough demand to warrant releasing it any earlier (ie: prior to Thanksgiving). Given the comment that was made about needing to test the phone, I'm not sure this would have even been an option.
Throughout both calls, both mention that the phone will be released on the 27th and also will be shipped on the 27th but also mentioned that it will be released on the 29th. I purposely did not try to pin down a date since what we have heard is that it will ship by the 27th and release on the 29th. I'm not familiar with Verizon so I'm not sure if a Tuesday release is possible. The Droid DNA is to be released on November 21 so we know Wednesday is an option.
All of this does not help us get our phone any sooner but I ended both conversations felling more aware of why Verizon postponed the release and confident that it will be my next carrier on the 27/29th of November."
There's also some fun info about the GN2 coming in new colors, next year? http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2012/11/19/samsung-galaxy-s3-mini-and-note-2-gain-three-new-colours/
I signed up for GN2 news emails at the Samsung website
I received an email today "Black Friday All Week Long"
Smartphone deals are "50% off accessories."
First you need to register your device.
The sale ends 11/26.
Perfect timing to leave out Verizon customers.
http://www.samsung.com/us/blackfriday/smartphones/?MKM_RID=0127536573&MKM_MID=1292775&CID=eml-ce-mult-1112-253
So you can't buy accessories? So how you being left out? I got my accessories already...
I think he was referring to the sale that will be going on during black Friday which will only apply to the current owners of the GN2 and not the owners to be (us) we will miss out on the sale due to the fact that it will be over bye the time we get our GN2's. (If you read the website rules you have to register your phone to take advantage of the sale.)
Actually there is a promotion which has nothing to do with the Galaxy Note 2.
for example

Thanks for the excellent information.
I've been watching/reading a lot of reviews and comparisons lately, perhaps boredom/anxiety, and for the most part there are some pretty unfair comparisons between the Note 2 and the Droid DNA. Now it's one thing for VZW to act funny because they have some kind of partnership involving the Droid brand. But, what's with reviewers?! They talk on and on about the screen resolution and benchmarks of the DNA and hardly at all about the features the Note 2 has over it. Plus, they gloss over the DNA's shortcomings as if they aren't actually relevant saying for instance that the battery lasts all day. Yeah...ok. If I weren't so knowledgeable even I might go get a DNA based on the way they make it sound like they're pretty much equal except for the resolution, benchmarks, and beats audio.
What about popup video player, S Pen (and S Pen apps), multiscreen, popup browser, removable storage, larger/removable battery, and noticeably larger screen?
The only thing I really wish the Note 2 had that the HTC phones always come equipped with is the text reflow where you can zoom in the browser and it automatically re-wraps the text to fit the screen no matter how big you make it. They must have a heck of a patent on that technology though because I don't know any other phones that have it and there aren't even any apps to mimic that feature; even when rooted.

I personally believe many of the reviewers are not fans of phablets or styluses (styli?).
I am glad someone else thinks text reflow is an important feature, and I finally found a solution--Boat Browser. I am using it on my Note 1 and it works just the way it should.
I just read yesterday that there is an add-on to Dolphin Browser that does the same thing, but I can't remember where I read it.
Edit: One other great thing about the Boat Browser is that it lets you pinch zoom and reflow text on web pages formatted for mobile. This is the only browser I've seen that lets you do this. The Maxthon Browser claims to reflow text, but it won't reflow on mobile formatted web pages.

But will it work on Jelly Bean? I'm reading that some browsers like Dolphin had it but it doesn't work yet for JB.
What is your favorite video demonstrating all the features of the GN2? I'm talking about a video that would "wow" someone who doesn't know about it yet or doesn't yet realize it's potential? There are quite a few people who who never get by the "it's so big" reaction to look at how beautiful and functional it is.

The original 15 minute one from Samsung is really good and there is a 15-18 minute one by Clove, I believe...I can get links after work.
This is actually 5 short videos segments, but they are all on the same page! Enjoy.

I like this one which shoes a lot of key features but isn't terribly long.

I meant 'shows' not 'shoes', dumb auto correct.

I found the Dolphin Browser add-on needed for the text reflow. It's Dolphin Browser v9.0.1 (with Jetpack v1.0.1). You have to download the Jetpack to make it work with JB.
Thank you. I tried it, and it lacks the capability of re-flowing mobile formatted web sites which are sometimes the hardest to read because of the small text. Boat Browser is still the only one that does this as far as I know. Give it a try when you have time.
