I guess I was in the Wrong forum as I needed the information for the SamSung Knack. But got it to work.!!! Thanks everyone for your information,
For uppercase letters, you'd press the shift key before typing the letter. The shift key is the virtual key with the up arrow. To press numbers, you can either switch to symbols by pressing SYM, or you can long press the letter with the corresponding number. If you hold down the virtual key, it will pop open a menu with various character options (helpful if you want to use a special character, like the n with the ~ above it).
The Fascinate does not have the SYM key as other phones to sitch to numbers or symbols it is lower left and is ?123
Thank you very much for the information. My Cell Phone is a Samsung knack if that should make any difference?
I don't see a SYM on my cell phone. But I Do understand about the Arrow key.
Are you guys sure about that?
I have the Fascinate and this is what I see when I open up my virtual keyboard. I know it changes a little based on the application (e.g., in the Chat app, the keys change), but this is the keyboard in my browser.
I don't know if the Knack's keyboard is any different, but I would imagine that the long press on the virtual keyboard would be similar (but again, I'm not entirely sure about the knack's keyboard). If I hold down my key that corresponds to the number (you can see numbers and letters on various keys), the number will pop up after about 1 to 2 seconds. If I hold it beyond that point for another second, a menu of character choices pops up, one of which is the number. Give that a try and see if that works. If it does, then your keyboard works the same way.
BotB 10sen I have Fascinate and use the keyboaard that came with phone and it dont have SYM key like my old phones. Maybe thats a Google thing which I like but do not know how to do? Maybe you used an app if so tell me
The Samsung Knack is a basic flip phone. Most questions for similar phones usually go in a different section of the Verizon Community forum. The instructions for entering upper case and numbers can be found on page 49 of the manual (the second link, hopefully). Hope this helps.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
I'm using the stock Swype keyboard, but I see where this difference may occur. You're probably using the Android keyboard as opposed to the Swype keyboard, like I am. I'm guessing that you don't see the key with the finger on it with the S shape (lower left on my keyboard)? If you'd like that SYM button, you'll have to use the Swype keyboard.
To use the Swype keyboard as your default keyboard, you'll need to...
1. go to your home screen
2. press the Menu button
3. select Settings
4. select Language & keyboard
5. select Input Method
6. select Swype
An alternative method is to
1. long press on the 123/ABC key on the Android keyboard
2. select Input method
3. select Swype
On the Fascinate, it appears to be easier to swap from the Android keyboard to Swype than the other way around because the only way to undo this change seems to be to go through settings.
bigfrank69 - I have the Fascinate, and that keyboard he shows is exactly what I see when I do texting or web browsing to enter text. I am not sure what you are looking at?
To do upper case letters, use the up arrow and to do numbers and characters, use the SYM key like he mentioned.
