I've been hearing and reading that Verizon is leading the pack with 5G service so before I upgrade my old Droid Turbo 2 to the Samsung Note 9 I want to be assured that it is already compatible with 5G so I'm not left behind with 4G Lite Service.

Based on this information, it appears that no existing phones are 5G capable.

Personally I wouldn't get a first generation 5G phone after my experience with the HTC Thunderbolt. Battery life was terrible.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Hello, jrh4054. We understand wanting more information on 5GF capable devices, and we'd like to help clear up some information for you. There are some phones that are already 5G capable, but depending on the software, they may not be able to get the full affect of 5G. There are plans to release 5G phones. Please feel free to visit https://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/ to stay up-to-date on any released information.

I don't believe that 5G compatible mobile phones have been made it out to the consumer market. They should be appearing next year.
As a side note, I read a while back that Verizon Wireless is going with a 5G system that is not compatible with those being deployed by at&t, T-Mobile and other providers. Supposedly the company would switch over at a later date to a 5G system similar to others.
Kinda looks like CDMA vs GSM all over again.
