Samsung S20 no MicroSD?

So I just got my S20 in the mail yesterday, and was shocked when I opened up the sim tray to insert my MicroSD card from my old phone only to find that there is no tray spot available for a MicroSD card. Typically, the pin hole tray at the top of the phone would have two trays, one for the sim card and another for MicroSD, but my S20 only has the one. While I waited for Verizon to release this phone, I researched it like crazy and found that the S20 on other carriers have the ability to load MicroSD. I was under the impression that Verizon's had it too, especially since the product page has people confirming that it does in the questions tab and there are a dozen articles online saying that all 3 Galaxy models would have this feature. Is there no expandable memory in Verizon's model of the S20? If not, anyone have an explanation why?

Same problem here. Sending the phone back. Even samsung specs show a microsd slot. Not much memory for this level of phone, about 100 gb usable.

Can you link where you saw the specs? I 'technically' haven't seen a Verizon page that states their model would have expandable memory, and assume they purposely stayed quiet about that to avoid awkwardness. Every article, review, video I've found where they say it has it refers to the S20s on competitors networks.

I'm just very disappointed. This was my first new phone in almost 5 years. Not only did I wait longer than others to get one, but it's also apparently the inferior version. AND I paid the same amount as people that get expandable memory.

It would have been nice if Verizon could have worked out a deal with Samsung to increase the internal memory... or I don't know - just put in an extra tray slot.

Bought the unlocked version of the S20. While I lack support for UWB 5G (too short range to be practical anyway), I have SD support and 12GB of ram vs 8GB on the Verizon version.

No Verizon bloatware and being $320 cheaper was also a plus.

But yeah, that is the difference for the Verizon version. Things were cut to give it UWB 5G support. Other carriers and the unlocked version only have support for sub6 5G. Not quite as impressive for speed tests, but penetrates better and is still faster than 4G.

Yeah, I assumed it had something to do with the addition of the UWB. I nearly bought an unlocked when they were on sale, but based on how long I tend to hold on to phones, I though I might as well future proof with the 5G just in case (of course I assumed I would also be getting expandable memory).

I'm not too upset, as my S7 only had 32GBs internal (!!!) and by the end my MicroSD only had about 14GBs used out of the 128GBs available - so I should be good.

We want you to have the right device on the right network, SamWiding. The Galaxy S20 5G UW model does not support expandable memory. I do wish there was better news in this case but can confirm this to be true. I hope this information helps.

Upon reviewing our Smartphones guide, the specs will indicate whether a device includes the additional storage space. When checking our website, the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G UW only shows the internal GB storage which means that this phone does not include space for a SD card. Identical situation happened to me today. I over analyze and over research everything, and I can confirm that the product pages on both Samsung and Verizon websites are borderline illegal with how misleading they are. I spent 3 hours with support today before being hung up on after I asked for a voucher/promo code so could get the cyber Monday promo deal (which had expired). Been a Samsung user since S5.... and the Google Pixel 5 is looking reeeal nice right about now.

Hello Brett,

I also am pretty shocked and disappointed about the exclusion of the MicroSD slot and the lack of communication around it. Verizon still hasn't taken its customers' feedback and been more communicative about this issue. I upgraded from a Google Pixel 3a in large part because of the expandable storage.

Please let me know what options are available. Thinking about returning my phone.

Sorely disappointed. Have been a Samsung fan and with Verizon for years now. Every reference to S20 you can find out there mentions expandable memory. Through all my research I did not find any reference to this specific model not having a MicroSD slot. No mention of it during the buying process. When it is such a significant difference from every other model out there, it should be hidden away. I feel very ripped off.

When I bought my s 20 at a verizon store. 7-29-2020. I was lead to believe by the employee that all of the s 20"s came the way mine does. Didn't think about it again. Just now finding out differently.

I was fortunate to see this and other feedback on the Galaxy S20. With this information I decided to buy an unlocked phone and still got a better deal than I found thru Verizon. I'm expecting my new S20 5G with expandable memory purchased thru Amazon to arrive later today. My Galaxy S6 has got several issues due to age and I'm ready to retire it.
