I started this thread and can now say that my S5 works great with Uconnect. Lollipop 5.0 cured the problem

Verizon updates nothing. However uconnect has a 2015 firmware update out now. It is not free.

It costs $185 with the tax in NY.

However it also updates your navigation system.

Ouch costly update.. hopefully it's worth it...

It just updates the firmware and maps and places of interest. However it takes over 2.5 hours to run the two CD's so updating is slow.

My uconnect worked great before I updated. The instructions state to remove all paired devices before updating which I did. On repairing it found my iphones and my wife's LG G2 but it was a real hassle in that on occasion you must repeat the "Call" command. It seems to dial the wrong contact. Easily fixed since it asks "yes" or "no" before it dials the number.

As I said it worked previously it works now after the firmware update. And yes its a shame a new vehicle I purchased 80 days ago was not sold with the update and it costs me the $185 but hey it happens.

This disc only updates the maps not the firmware. You can have the dealer update the firmware for free or download and update yourself. Read this post: Galaxy S5 Bluetooth Issue

The update came with a firmware update and a navigation update disc.

While your purchased map update came with the software update, it does not mean you can't get the software update without the map update at the dealer for no cost. I have seen this in the past on my vehicles. Since the map update REQUIRES the software update, they obviously had to include this with your purchase. Kind of silly to send you a map update you can't use without a software update and kind of a hassle to require you to visit your dealer to first get the software update before you would be able to run your map update. This way for the low cost of a DVD, the customer is happy.:smileyhappy:

First my dealer told me 80 days ago that the firmware was up-to-date however I found that was a lie. And I bought the car new.

Then I asked for the update and the dealer said I had the most recent. However when I went to Chrysler they said I was correct and sent me to the dealer who did not have the 2015 update.

That small amount of $185 is not what I should have paid. The dealership had no firmware update for free.

I paid but that is not a complaint.

And of course I would wrather know its done correctly.

Now I also found via Chrysler Headquarters that they were remiss in updating my PCM and for not disclosing a bad battery drain issue. It is now at another dealer who is repairing all that Armory did not do.

Shelling out forty grand for a new car should be in excellent condition on taking possession not complete with hidden horrors.

After reading all of the replies, I haven't seen any information regarding a fix by Samsung/Verizon. Does anyone know if something is being done? Thanks.

My original post has zero to do with the Uconnect maps made by Garmin of which most of the posts were about and everything to do with the lastest Android update from Verizon. I am running the most current version of the Uconnect firmware available and I have been out to the Dodge UConnect site. It shows that the S5 with Android 4.4.2 is compatible with Uconnect of which I had zero problems. The upgrade pushed down by Verizon (4.4.4) is not. Verizon is the only entity that can push an upgrade down from Samsung. I would hope, and like to hear from Verizon if a fix for the Blue Tooth issue is being addressed in the next firmware update.

Maybe its just vehicle specific. On my vehicle the Firmware update was included with the updated mapping software. Uconnect Phone is just one piece of uconnect. So for it being off topic is totally subjected.

Now I was looking at the new iOS update yesterday while having it update 5 idevices and it mentioned one of the fixes was for Bluetooth connectivity dropping etc. My estimation is if Apple devices were doing this (mine did not) then android devices are doing this in that makes no difference if the uconnect phone was not connecting properly, it is the phone that has to be updated not the uconnect firmware.

I think that as in all things, compatibility and compliance to a particular communication protocol can vary. I don't know what other phones are having difficulty pairing to the uconnect that is in the Chrysler / Dodge product lines. VZW isn't going to know if the device is fully compatible, and I think reporting the issue to them just not appropriate. However, SAMSUNG should be alerted to the fact that some people are having difficulty with their interoperability with other products. That's all I'm saying. However, that doesn't rule out there being an issue with uconnect...

I agree in that according to the uconnect web site my iphones should not function. But both of them work perfectly. Yesterdays iOS 8.1 mentions the car connectivity issues and that it was fixed.

That is why Samsung and other makers should insure compatabily with assistance from car manufacturers.

Especially when one of the vehicle selling points is car bluetooth connectivity and hands free calling.

Trust me if its not difficult now, just wait to you buy another newer one in a few years.

I agree there, the manual that came with our car was quite big, as I mentioned it's not complicated for me to use now that I got it down pat, but at first it was tricky and with my Dad all he know is how to do is turn the volume up N down or change the channel he's still having issues figuring it out after I showed him were things are and how to use it but at least he's trying..

I think what makes it difficult for him to figure out Big E is there's so many minus and sub minus..

Maybe Chrysler is different, but the owner's manuals I have seen don't seem so bad. Clear instructions, but for the most part usage seems to be pretty straightforward. Problem with many is that quite a few people don't like to open those owner's manuals up.

When you updated your maps and new firmware, what version did the firmware update to. I am currently running v50.00.07 and my maps are at least 2 years old or older.

Hopefully this is the right numbers. I took a photo.

Today I turned my radio off, yes OFF, and made an outgoing call with the Samsung S5. Once the phone started to ring, the Uconnect system came on and picked up the call, broadcast it over the truck speakers and showed the call on the screen. Everything work perfect. I then tried a voice command call with the radio off, the Uconnect system came on and everything worked perfect. I turned the radio ON, tried a voice call and it failed as usual. Crazy!!! So for now, my work around is to turn the radio off when I want to make an outgoing call.

That is really strange. Did you check on another firmware update? I am totally lost on how this uconnect functions. Very confusing.

Since I got my Galaxy S4 and made the first software upgrade, I have experienced the same issue. Either using the phone or via voice, after the first couple of minutes of reconnecting to the Bluetooth, when I dial out, it rings twice and then cuts off at the Bluetooth, and shows call ended. However, the phone is still holding the call, but I am unable to speak to the person who picks up on the other end.

I am up to date on my software upgrades for Uconnect. The Uconnect "service" team states that it is a Verizon/Sprint issue as other carriers work. The Galaxy S 4 in the Uconnect site does not show support for 4.4.2, but the Galaxy S5 does show that Uconnect supports 4.4.2.

I was asking Uconnect for a refund of what I paid for the Bluetooth as I had the dealer install it. After waiting on hold for 10 minutes, I hung up.

Verizon - please step up to the plate and take ownership for this issue. If other carriers work and Verizon and Sprint do not, it does point to being a carrier issue. I was unhappy enough with the feeling of being raped with my last contract, please don't push me over the edge to take my four phones to a carrier that will work with my car.

Verizon/Sprint have nothing to do with your phone working in your car. That is a Samsung or other device makers problem.

In fact nothing in your cell phone contract other than a connection to the cellular and data network is what Verizon supplies. Nothing else.

According to uconnect my iphones are not supposed to work, but they both do. My wife's LG G2 connects perfectly after the OS update.

My take is bring it to the dealership have them attempt to connect to your car. I had to pay for my firmware update and my car is brand new. Go figure.

What I found is you must unpair the phones saved in uconnect. Then repair them back and see if that fixes the issue.

Also not knowing if it makes any difference Sprint/Verizon are CDMA carriers. AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM carriers.

I have the same problem in my 2014 Jeep Uconnect says they are waiting for an update from Verizon. I have been bounced back and forth as neither company seems to want to take ownership.

You are being lied to.

Verizon has nothing to do with your device Bluetooth. That is a device maker issue.

I would drop by the dealer and see if they can make it connect. Or contact uconnect and tell them Verizon has nothing to do with your phone connecting to your vehicle.
