His "name" is not on it. Others are making this about Trump.
Trump did not "name" the alert, his predecessors did when initiating this system.
As much as I don't care to be involved in or distracted by this planned test on Thursday, the test message is coming from FEMA and not POTUS.
The test has been postponed until Oct. 3:
Nationwide Test of the Emergency Alerting Systems Postponed Until October 3, 2018
That's if there isn't another weather emergency at that time.
Are there any services that are NOT participating in this horrible Presidential Alert System? I'm going to shut my phone OFF on 10/3/18 from 2pm-2:30pm to be sure I do not receive that test. I would strongly like to encourage my phone carrier, Verizon, to not participate in this horrible idea. If I can find a carrier that refuses to participate, I will be sure to switch. Even if my contract is not up. I'm so appalled.

Seems to work fine for me.
Of course all you have to do is Google WEA (Wireless Emergency Alert) or EAS (Emergency Alert System) or IPAWS (Integrated Public Alert and Warning System).

The last alert that went out in Hawaii didn’t have any politics involved. Had it been real, not a massive mistake, it would have been critically important that residents of Hawaii get the word.
Lets all be grown ups about the test And not stick our head in the sand.
When its working properly, the system should provide localized as well as national alerts. It might have saved people in North Carolina this past week.
I plan on being in a public place so I can people watch when the alert goes off.
I've been receiving texts, not from the emergency system, and Verizon actually flags them as potential spam. How do I stop this? I went into a Verizon store and was told to change my number.
