Message+ Update

I'm having an issue with the new messaging update. Some of my conversations with individuals are stuck as your new "chat" feature instead of SMS and make it so I have to be connected to wifi or us data to send a message. They also have to be using the same app to receive my messages. How do I change this? I've tried deleting the conversation but that doesn't fix it. This only affects certain contacts. Thier names appear in blue when I try starting a new conversation. Is there a way to disable the "chat" feature?

I was having the same problem...only certain contacts. I went in to my application manager and then to the Message+ app...Disabled it (because you can't uninstall it), restarted my phone and repeated the process but Enabled it. It worked. Hope it works for you too.

I even tried deleting the contract and adding them back. This still didn't fix the problem. I know she has the she app downloaded but it isn't the one she uses.

If she has the app but doesn't use it, have her go into the message+ app and enter "settings"...scroll down to delete her account. It will disable HER message+ allowing her to receive your texts as SMS messages on the app she uses. It will NOT delete your text history or hers on your device or on her device. That is what my son did when we had the same issue. It worked.

Will it prevent them from using messages+ at all when you delete the account though? This morning I tried to disable messages+ and switch back to the regular message program that came with my phone, re-enabled notifications and everything and even restarted, but wasn't able to receive a single text message from anyone, message+ user or not. I had to switch back and started getting them again, but my phone has been unusually quiet today and I'm terrified I'm missing important stuff. I'm worried if I delete my account, or uninstall the updates, I'll run into even bigger problems. I'm having other massives issues with this app...my husband also uses messages+ and his individual messages to me are arriving styled as a chat, it'll say "from hubby, hubby to hubby" which is ridiculous. Also keeps erasing all the customizations, and suddenly has totally stopped playing vibrations or notifications for texts even when I reset everything to default. I noticed that these changes were applied before the app was even updated, I had to manually go to the store to update it and thought it would help but all it did was kind of hold on to the customizations for an hour longer...they still reset eventually. It's making me insane! How dare they do this to a perfectly great app!

I never suggested you delete message+ if that is the texting app you normally used before the update. I suggested recipients who DON'T use message+ as their default texting app delete their message+ account.

COOFOO777, we always want your messages to get through and are here to assist. Are these messages going through when connected to data or Wi-Fi? Have you tried using the factory installed messaging application to see if there is any change in the messages sending?

I am also having the same issue. It is weird because for me. It only is when I text my wife, but not others. It is making me want to stop using message plus.

TEAMANDERSON113, we don't want this to be an ongoing issue for you. Which make/model phone do you have? Have you powered your device off/on since retrieving the software update?

I am using a Samsung Galaxy s7. I have restarted my phone numerous times
since updating. I have disabled message plus, restarted, then enabled
message plus. I has reverted to pre update status. I have also turned off
automatic updates. I really do like message plus but can't/won't allow it
to update to the most current version until bugs are fixed. I did stop
using message plus for about a day and used the other messaging app that
was stock on my phone.
I hope this helps get the issue resolved for all customers.
Cheers

This is a huge issue for many people. My husband and I had updates forced through at the same time (we were sitting in bed when it happened) and we have different phone models- we loved messages+ before the upgrades but it kept resetting all my customizations and his single texts were coming in as group chat. I made the huge error of trying to switch back to my stock app and completely stopped receiving texts from ANYONE. I panicked and tried to switch back to messages+ and still cannot get messages from anyone also using it. I can no longer uninstall the app, just uninstall the updates and disable it- I did this and opted out of integrated messaging, and now even with the updated version cannot text anyone from there because it asks me sign back up, and thinks for a very long time before completely shutting down. I'm now forced to use the stock app and still cannot get messages from anyone using messages+ which is a fair amount of people for me. This is completely unacceptable as texting is half the reason why I pay for service.

Did you try deleting your message+ account as I suggested? It's not the same as "disabling" message+.

I am also having the same issue. Like others it is only with certain contacts. On top of that, any messages I do send or receive are all out of order in context to the conversation. After calling a buddy, they confirmed they are not receiving my messages. This is extremely annoying. Also, lose the whole profile name thing. This is not Facebook. App was working fine before. Worst "Update" Ever!

RH22,
We want to make sure you can stay in touch with all of your contacts all the time. What type of phone do you have? Did it start right after doing the update?

Support,
For me, I just noticed the issue yesterday when my wife wasn't replying back to any of my texts. I've tried reinstalling the app updates and restarting the phone multiple times...doesn't do any good. I cannot text my wife. We both have a Galaxy S7 Edge, the only difference is that she uses the Samsung messaging app that came with the phone and I'm using the Verizon app. She has no problems texting me, but I can't text back.
The only way I'm able to get this working again is to uninstall all updates for the app and go back to the factory settings...at that point, I can text again with no issues. This is frustrating and annoying.

Have your wife open the message+app. Click on the three horizontal bars at the top to open the menu. Go to "settings". Scroll down to the bottom to "delete account". This will delete her message+ account. It will NOT delete the text messages from either device. It will disengage the "chat" feature so your texts will go to her as SMS messages she can receive on the Samsung app. It works. My son and I had the exact same issue. Obviously uninstalling the update will fix the problem too but doing it this way allows you to keep the new features while still communicating with your wife.

Anyone who wants to see how huge of a problem this is, just go to the Google Play store and see all the recent 1 star reviews for this app. But of course Verizon customer service wants to ignore this and act like it's an isolated issue only with the few people in this forum. Total disconnect from what is going on, once again.

I went to my application manger and hit the "disable" button. It asked me if I wanted to go to the original factory version. I clicked yes.. then hit enable. Boom.. back to working like the old days.
