Message + on my iPad stopped working after recent update from Apple store. I touch the icon and it opens for a couple seconds showing the title page and then closes. I’ve tried offloading and reopening and restarting iPad. No luck. I have the latest IOS. I still get notifications of new texts on the iPad, but must see them on android phone. Concerned if I delete and reload I’ll loose older messages > 90 days. Message + on Android is working ok. Seems there is no way to install previous version of message+ on iPad from Apple store. Also seems there is no way to save messages on iPad.

I have this same problem. It’s very frustrating. I use the app for my work number. I am concerned if I delete and reload the app I will lose all previous saved messages plus the ones I’m unable to see now. I have tried to network reset, offload and reinstall, turn off turn on etc…. Nothing has helped. I think the only thing we can wait for is another update to fix the problem.

As a valued customer, your concerns are our concerns too and we thank you for reaching out today. The Verizon Messages + app is a very convenient app to use and we certainly don't want you to lose any of your saved text messages. Verizon Messages + includes a very convenient syncing option. You can view more info about this by visiting our website at http://spr.ly/6602yu5mw. Once you've accessed the website, scroll down to "Syncing Messages Across Devices" and review the information provided. Please be sure to review the info at #3 (How do I subscribe to Integrated Messaging?") We're confident that this information will be helpful to you. Please keep our team updated. - RobertC_VZW

The message + app on web only has past 90 days of messages. Doesn’t help if you need to see older messages stored on iPad. What is status of update on the Apple App Store?

I noticed today on App Store a newer version of message+ was posted. I offloaded my message + and reinstalled this newer app and still no success.

Thank you for all the steps you have completed on your own. Please check for software updates on your device, clear the app cookies and restart your device. Let us know how it works.

iPad iOS is up to date. By cookies, I assume you mean safari cookies. I removed them. Reloaded the latest message+ app. Message + will still crash after initial screen opens.

I still have the same problem. I installed the latest update to the app and it still crashes. And if it does somehow open I get a Error notice stating my device has been disconnected from the integrated messaging service, and I would need to erase all messages from the device and reconnect(I have not disconnected from the device so not sure why this message is showing up). However I am still able to get notifications that I am receiving messages just unable to open the app to read them. And when the app does open all the numbers are saying unknown still. Even tho my contacts are backed up. Its very frustrating.

Being able to view your messages through the Messages+ application is very important, jjguns1115. Have you tried removing the application and reinstalling it on your iPad?

I have just given up on this issue and deleted the app and reinstalled the app. It now works. Off course I lost all of my texts > 90 days old. It was evident that Verizon’s software folks (our their contracted software folks?) were not going to spend any more time to trouble shoot the issues of the 5.0 or the 5.0.1 version not being able to update on iPad. I got a reply that the issue was with IOS not the message + app. I guess the tech folks ignored all the other folks who commented about the problem on the app web site and probably all the thousands who simply deleted and reinstalled the app not realizing all texts > 90 days old would be lost from their device. With all the issues with the January 6th insurrection and all the thousands of texts, videos and photos from the insurrectionists, I wonder if this wasn’t an effort to help get rid of old texts to help the Trump supporters who participated in the insurrection or supported it. Just wondering.

Yeah I got the same message that its an IOS issue… but I find it funny how all my other apps (including a few Verizon ones) work except the message +app. I cannot delete the app as I cannot lose my messages (again using my work number as I don’t like carrying around 2phones all the time) I’ve been using this app for my work number since 2019 and this is the first time I’ve had any major issues. And now I have been “disconnected from integrated messaging” message when the app finally opens and doesn’t crash. But I have not disconnected my phone number. It’s all bizarre that they can’t fix this issue. Go back to the previous update before all the issues I had.

I apologize for the frustration and the negative experience you're having with Verizon Messages plus not working on your iPad and that we did not do a better job to let you know the messages only go back to 90 days when doing a restore, Bruce31. Let me get some more details to see if there are any available. Have you backed up your iPad to the iCloud before the Verizon message App was deleted? I ask this because the iCloud would not have this limitation of only being able to go back 90 days when you restore the messages. Here's a link for more details https://www.verizon.com/support/verizon-messages-faqs/ and please refer to the section under "Syncing Messages Across Devices" #6. Does this help?
Thanks,

What do you mean by uninstall/reinstall the message+ app? This is on my iPad. I don’t want to delete the app and then reinstall it. I will loose all messages > 90 days old. I have offloaded the app ( a feature on my iPad to temporarily stop apps from loading if low on storage) and reloaded it several times including reloading the newest app version 5.0.1. The app’s cover screen will open for a few seconds and then the app will close. No error messages, etc. From the comments on the app in the App Store there seems to many persons with the same problem. My wife message + works fine on her iPad, but it is the version before 5.0. Her iPad wasn’t set up to automatically update apps when they are available. This is evidence the problem started when version 5.0 was introduced about three weeks ago.

This is a necessary step to understanding what could be the issue that you're describing. Currently, there are no open alerts for this issue, so this seems to be an isolated issue regarding the software of your device. We would recommend backing up your text messages to a cloud based storage in general to avoid any loss in your personal information. Afterwards, we would suggest removing the application and downloading it again. Please let us know of any updates, so we may continue to look into this for you. TaylorH_VZW

I have done that and now the app is giving me an error code again that I can’t connect to integrated messaging. The app continues to crash at start up, I have tried to “create a new message” when I press and hold the app and I am unable to see any messages and contacts are still saying unknown.

jjguns1115,
Thank you for trying. Have you been able to back up the iPad? Can we reset it back to factory settings?
Does iMessage work?
Thanks,

Sorry about the complications you're experiencing with the Message+ service. I would recommend not deleting anything at this time. There should be another update on June 24th. Please see if the issues are resolved with that update first, and then let us know. We'll be standing by here.

Customer Support :Ok. I’ll look for the update. I assume the version no. will change from 5.0.0 and I can just “offload” the app on my iPad and then load again and maybe a restart. Hopefully all my older texts will be accessed. One comment: I just happened to look at my post and saw your response. Do you ever try to also contact customers by email or text? If I hadn’t looked at the forum post it may have been weeks before I saw the response and I may have already deleted the app. Maybe you did and it went to my spam folder. I will look. Thanks.
