When someone sends me a text message and I leave the message thread open, a notification sound no longer works.
How do I make Verizon Messages give me an audible notification every time a text message arrives? It only gives me notifications if the message threads are not open.

Hi! This is normal behavior. If the text thread is open, it will not sound the text alert.

Wait a minute. Previous versions DID sound an alert if the thread was open. In fact, this ability was "broken" once before, and it came back. Now it's gone again. I reject that this is "normal" behavior. It might be the way it is currently programmed, but what is "normal" is to let the user decide. Of all the things VZW should have as a user-settable option, it is the ability to be alerted when the thread is open.
I wish VZW and its developers would leave the Messaging app alone. Every update changes something or screws something up. Or both.
