When I try to insert a gif or picture using the keyboard in Messages, I get the error "This text field does not support image insertion from the keyboard". How can I insert images directly using the keyboard?? I have a Google Pixel.
I attached a picture of what I'm talking about!!
You have an awesome phone and we want it to work with no issues for you YellowBilledMagpie. Are you able to use pictures from your camera roll with text messages? Are you using a 3rd party text messaging application or keyboard application? If so, it may not be compatible with your software. Make sure your software is up to date http://vz.to/2eO4jxb .

I have the exact same problem but my phone is a Droid play Z. Any suggestions?? I am using the Verizon message+ app. It allows me to insert pictures from my camera roll just not gif.
I can use pictures from my camera roll, but no gifs or regular pictures. I don't have any third party keyboards installed because I'm not sophisticated enough for that. My screenshot shows Bitmoji, but it doesn't work for gifs either.
YellowBilledMagpie - I really enjoy using the Bitmoji application. I was having the same issue you're having. I am confident that this information will resolve the issue you're having. In order to be able to send your pictures you will have to grant Bitmoji access to your Camera. Please go to Settings>Apps & Notifications>App info. Scroll down and tap on the Bitmoji. Then tap on app permission and make sure allow Camera access permission is on (Blue). If the app permission is not there, try these steps. Settings>Apps & Notifications>App permissions. Tap on Bitmoji and make sure Camera access it turned on (Blue)

No luck :smileysad: i downloaded another messaging app for now!
I'm having the same issue. I completed all the steps you instructed but the problem persists.
Have you tried tapping on the PLUS sign on the left of the Type a Message box? Doesn't that allow you to select a .gif file to insert?
To insert a gif or bitmoji photo you don't use the plus sign, you use the keyboard.
Let's take a detour for a moment. When the Bitmoji app is open, can you send a Bitmoji from the app? Of course this involves manually entering in who you're sending it to. DavidH_VZW
Having the same issue here, tried all the suggestion and nothing has worked so far, I am able to use bitmoji app to enter emojis manually but thats not a solution, also cant insert gifs, using gkeyboard

Using Verizon's message+ app, all the apps are up to date, it's been
happening since I started using this app, about 20-25 days

I had the same problem. I tried the suggested fixes, but they did not work. I'm happily using Android messages (Google.)
Lcsunny1, we know that these bitmoji's can add a great deal of fun to your messages. Have you previously been able to attach in your messaging app? If so, when did this begin? Do you recall any recently added apps, games or software?

I appreciate the additional information provided Andrui83. Let's continue to investigate. Do you get a certain error message when trying to enter a gif file or add an emoji to your message? Can you verify the app version you are running for Verizon Messages. To check the software version for the app tap on Verizon Messages<Menu<About
Thank You,

The short answer is no. Verizon will not let gif insertion from keyboard occur. Whether that is do to Verizon's own pestilence or because Google keyboard (the standard Android keyboard with all Android OS since nougat) won't let them have the code. The latter answer is probably me just trying to be nice to Verizon ( not sure why they <<removed>> me monthly on my bill) because Google uses open source software. I.e. Verizon is just either dumb or lazy in adding this feature. Download Google messages from the Google play store (it's free, a word Verizon doesn't understand) and you can add all the gifs you want directly from the awesome gif search they offer with Gboard. Then go into settings, apps, find Verizon messages and disable it. Make Google messages your default SMS and be done with garbage Verizon bloatware apps. Have a great day!
