Unable to receive picture messages on EnV2

I picked up this EnV2 a month or 2 ago, since it was time to renew, the phone was free, and there was no data plan required.

I haven't been able to receive any messages other than texts since. In fact, I'll receive the message, "Do you want to receive this photo", or whatever along those lines. I opt for yes, and then the message receipt fails.

Why? Because I don't have a data plan? I'm tired of having my messages used up by attempted picture texts that can't even be received.

I am sure you have tried this, but remove the battery a few seconds and retry.

Then check to see if you can go on the internet. Go to "settings and tools" from your main menu, then choose "my verizon" this will take you to a free internet page. If it does not work or you get an error message call customer services you may have a data block on your account. If it does work call tech support and have them look at the network part of your account.

As far as a data plan goes, you do not have to have one to receive/send picture or video messages. They are two separate things. Browsing the web or downloads , facebook etc are data plan related. Your messages plain ones, pics or video are your messaging plan. Unless you are on a really old plan more than 4 5 years old this should not be a problem. However, you can opt to block ALL data. If you do this it can mess up pic and video messages. Why? when you send them or receive them the message gets transmitted over the internet but you are charged only for your message plan. If you block all data it will block this as well. If that is the case have it removed. Best bet though is to call tech support though if you do not have all data blocked.

We have 2 env2's here and have data blocked but can still send and receive text with pictures. Maybe you have a full data block that also prevents pictures too? If so you can call and they can set up the other data block so you can still receive texts with pictures. That is not part of data and is including in your texting plan. If it's not that then maybe something is wrong with the phone. Mary
