Who's this random number that shows up on my message usage details?

This number is what shows for all inbound and outbound messages. Its not my number  or  anyone I  know, so, who's is it?

With integrated messages, this number is a copy of your text but it uses this system number so that you can access on the server via your desktop for My Verizon as it is sending a copy. same for me!  I want to know why I have an unknown number for my text message  usage detail also.

This looks like it is tracking text messages. It is showing up as a sent text message to 008-000-4101 at the exact time a text is sent or received on just one of my lines. It is not showing up like this on my other 3 lines. It makes it look like every message coming in or out is being copied and sent to this number.

RoxyK82, I'm having what sounds like a very similar issue as you. It just started in the last month, but since January 11th, this really odd number has appeared only on my text messages on my bill EIGHTY TWO TIMES! They are ALL incoming texts, but I've never actually received them. When I called Verizon, I was told it was coming from a computer. I don't know if this is the same problem as you're having, but mine is still unresolved, and I'm going to take further action to get it resolved. I hope everything worked out for you.

Same here but all outgoing texts that don’t exist on husband’s phone. They show up immediately after a valid text. Same on my phone but mine stopped.

Seems to to be a verizon issue and wondering why nothing is being done to stop it.

Same here, and I will give everything, my phone, my husband's phone, copies

of the phone bill, etc...to the police and let them figure it out, because

as you read through this thread, everyone "spoke to an agent " yet they all

have different reasons. Verizon's left hand doesn't know what their right

hand is doing.

Well, it sounds like just another excuse to me. First of all, I don't

have a desktop computer, and even if I did, why would Verizon assume I

want a copy of my texts going to it? And why now, all of a sudden, with

no explanation FIRST, or asking me if I would want that feature to begin

with? If it was as simple as you're trying to make it sound, why is it that

hundreds of your customers and myself have been getting the runaround?

Another hole in your story, if it was true and correct, it would do what

you said with EVERY text sent, no? Rest assured I do have understanding of

the number 008--000-4101, and it is not a phone number. As for you helping

here, I'm sorry, but you didn't, not the way you were hoping to.

This is not a single user issue and should not be taken into private message. Get this issue to Technical Services/Messaging Services support and have them determine where these internal messages are being generated and why users are seeing them.

I really hope you can understand my concern with seeing the same number

appear 117 times on my text log and 89 times on my husband's text log in

TWO days. Not only that, neither my husband nor I have ever texted that

number. I called Tech support and was told the number was coming from a

computer, yet, reading through the blog, a lot of people have been given a

lot of different excuses, and sadly, they believe them. This is beyond

unacceptable, and I have already begun to put the matter in the hands of

more capable officials who can and will identify where the number is coming

from and what the problem is. I've been more than patient waiting for an

honest explanation from one of your representatives and even the nicest

person in the world has their limit. You can feel free to look into the

matter if you would like, and no, your response didn't come close to

answering my question.

I appreciate you trying to help, but that's not the correct number, and

I've already checked out Whatsup Messenger. Besides that, I wouldn't text

anybody 117 times in two days, as it shows on my text log, let alone

someone using a texting program such as that. Thank you again though.

Yes I believe this is the answer, this all started when I switched from an android phone to an iPhone and I never have set up a ‎WhatsApp a new phone as I only used it when on vacation in another country, however I did meet some locals that we did stay in touch with, And after reading this I finish setting up the ‎WhatsApp on iPhone and Shernoff they had been reaching out to me however I was not receiving the message, thank you for so much for this as you have solved the mystery

My husband and I have been having the same issue of our messaging log showing that we have been sending the number 008-000-4104 a ridculous amount of texts. My phone would send an out going text to 008-000-4101 any time I received or sent a text to anyone. This also happened when I received a few vociemails. My husband's phone would only send a text to 008-000-4101 when he sent or received a text from my phone number. One of our friends text logs also started to send 008-000-4101 any time he sent or received a text from my cell phone.  After talking to several different tech support on three separate days and doing a hard reset on my phone, we figured out how to stop the number from showing up on our messaging logs. First off, the hard reset was not needed! The issue is with the Message+ app. I personally use the message+ app; however, my husband and friend have never used the app. I had to go into the message+ app and deactivate it. Deactivating it makes it where you can no longer message from other devices (tablets, computers, etc) but you still can send texts from your phone. Once I did that my message log stopped showing that I was sending texts to the 008-000-4101. Okay now bare with me because this is going to sound crazy. For my husband and friends phone: they had to ENABLE the message+ app. Go into the message+ app. Hit the 3 lines at the top for the "drop down menu". Then hit SETTINGS. Then hit ACCOUNT. Then hit DEACTIVATE ACCOUNT. Enter in your phone number. Then hit delete. That should fix it. It apparently deletes your account from being used by other devices. After that they could either continue using message+ without the issues or you can switch back to the regular messagener. I cannot explain why or how this started happening but this seemed to stop the unwanted texts for us. It has been almost a full day without the number showing on my messaging log again. I hope this can help someone out! I also hope Verizon can answer why this started happening in the first place!

I have tried every suggestion made within all threads discussing this problem and none have worked. Reinstalling message+ on my phone and then deactivating it from all devices sounded promising but did not help. The oddball messages are getting very frustrating and there must be some real answers out there as to why it is happening to everyone.

janwic, I've reviewed our alerts and see that it became an known issue on 01/18. The number you are seeing in the "To" field is the result of a presentment issue that has been corrected. Going forward, it will not appear in the detail. The listed messages are valid. I apologize for any inconvenience.
