Network extender open/closed

I just set up a brand-new Verizon signal booster I received yesterday.  I was in the settings and was trying to change my settings to close and make a user list. I cannot.  I go to create a list and it says : "The first number you add to this list must be from your own account."  I have tried to change it back to Open. The website simply says, "Your changes cannot be made due to system error".  I have tried calling customer support all day and i get the same error each time i call. Your call cannot be made due to system error. And auto disconnected.  The chat is just an AI who can only answer questions with the same few info pages. Very unhelpful. I feel like Verizon is trolling me. I have seen other posts about older models and such having this feature, but newer ones don't.  If this isn't a feature that can be used with this model, why is there even a setting for it? I have checked the settings via the IP and there is no option to change it. A factory reset doesn't change the settings either. at this point i feel like Verizon just mailed me a paper weight

Hi, that's a known issue with the closed access list thing not working and it's been a problem for quite a while.  Another forum member has said it's being worked on, but when the fix will be in place is unknown.  In the meantime, you can lower the transmission range of your network extender to cut down on the possibility of random other people outside or the neighbors getting free service.

Special thanks to fellow Verizon Community member Fdbk for these instructions.

1) Press the button on the left side panel near the screen until you see an IP Address displayed.

2) From your computer that is connected to the same home network as the extender, type the IP address into the browser's URL bar and enter.

3) Now you should see a login page. The pw is LTEFemto0000 (with the zeros representing the last four of the MAC Address found on the back label or the screen).

4) Once logged in, from the left side menu select 'Settings' and then from the drop-down menu select 'Advanced'

 5) Uncheck the box for 'Automatic Transit Power Mode' and use the slider bar to set the desired range and select 'Save'

Yes I had thought of that. It would be a great solution if only i could change my extender back to "Open". The website just keeps spitting out server error.

I don't actually have an extender, but since the closed access function doesn't work, wouldn't the extender be in open mode by default?  If your settings are stuck in a loop where you can't get back to the main menu, that's a different issue of which one of the other forum regulars who do have an extender will have to chime in on.

The day I set it up it was connected and working fine. I was the one who decided to change the settings to closed, only to find after it would not let me set up a list or change it back. Anyhow, I called Fios tech support, and they sorted it out. I don't know exactly how she fixed it, or what, but she got it back to open, and I will just leave it open and lower the power. Tech support was not a bad experience as the technician was pleasant, and I didn't have to explain my problem a bunch of times to a bunch of different people. Thank you, Helen.  Overall, I have been with Verizon for 6 years even though we had poor signals because it's better than paying twice this for a land line. No other services are available in our area.  Verizon offering an extender for Free was amazing given that it's rare for big companies to offer free anything. Atm I am pretty happy with the way things are.😀
