My phone's charging port was malfunctioning so I brought it in to Verizon in order to fix it or trade it in. I was told by the representatives at the store that my trade in would garner a $1,000 trade in for a new device. I traded in my phone and brought it back within 30 days, per the store's instruction. Not only has the trade in not been honored, I'm now being told that if I change the plan that I have with Verizon that I would forfeit my trade in value.
The value of my current phone is around $1,200. With the credit I should only be getting charged device payments on a $200 phone. Instead I'm having to make payments on the amount that I would be told was a trade in value?? The cherry on top is that if I switch to the next lower tier of plans, $500 of my $1,000 trade in is just lost???? At the time of trade in I was on the ultimate unlimited plan, so the amount that I was told for the trade in should be honored. The false advertising and baiting and switching is ridiculous!!
