Trade in credit for phone paid upfront

I  just bought the latest iPhone 17 pro online through verizon, paid in full upfront. When i went to trade in my old iphone 24 pro to initiate the processing of the $1100 credit (spread over 30+ month billing), the rep reassured me that I would receive the billing credit even though i had paid for the full balance of the phone upon ordering.  He said i wasn’t subject to the loss of credit that others may be subjected to when they pay off their phone. He also said that he would not have been able to see the pending credit in his system if i was not eligible.
Is he correct?

Resolution Update: By partnering with support, we confirmed that a full retail purchase was permissible with this promotion and would not affect their trade-in offer. Please note that the trade-in value will be credited over a 36-month period and the line must remain on the account during this time, following our standard promotional procedures. Be aware that upgrading to a new device before the promotional period ends may result in forfeiting the remaining credits, depending on the specific promotional details. In addition, it is highly recommended to confirm that a promotion permits full retail purchases, as not all of them do. I'm not sure either because I thought you had to sign up for the promotion first before obtaining the new phone.  If you just bought the iPhone 17 outright, then you might have simply bought yourself a phone and/or any trade-in you try to do after the fact won't be getting the amount described in the promo.
