Change to media in Conversations Notification

Did anyone else receive the notification from Verizon that says “Change to media in Conversations.” “Starting on Oct 20th, you will no longer have access to search for media files directly through the Message+ Application.

Does anyone know if the media will be accessible in another location? Also is there a way to save all the media without having to save the media, file by file?

Dizza710 We definitely understand the need to get clarity on this change. This will only affect the ability to search for media in the app. You will not lose any of the media that you have and you are still able to send and receive media. ~Peter

Can you please clearly define what 'media' is? Is media pictures, videos, or is media a text message? Example, if I search for 'Address' in Message+ is word search being disabled?

Can we roll back to an earlier version of M+?

You have a great concern. Media, usually refers to multimedia format. Multimedia has the following characteristics:

Text length: Up to 5,000 characters
Images (including animated) of up to 410KB

I got it today and I'm concerned. I hope we get answers. I use this feature a lot to refer back to certain things and not have to scroll through entire text threads.

If you (or anyone) have received this message, please identify what make/model device you have. It could be device dependent.

I just got this message myself and I love how no one knows what's going on. Verizon is really in the camp of not caring about who they screw over. Especially not saying anything publicly. I'm currently looking into other services because my partner and I use media sharing to keep in touch with our day to day lives. Removing the ability to send pictures seems insanely stupid and inconvenient.

Like others, I've received the attached message which states

"Change to Media in Conversations
Starting on Oct 20th, you will no longer have access to search for media files directly through the Message+ application"

Unfortunately, that notification message is completely unclear. Are they saying that I will no longer have access to the thousands of photos that I've send and received via Message+?

If so, I'd like to download and save those photos ASAP. From what I can tell Message+ does not allow a bulk export of all the media shared with me, and that I've shared with others. Is it true that I need to export each image one at a time?

Also, while typing this message, I've been on the phone with Verizon Customer Support, and so far they don't seem to have any idea the true meaning of this notification.

Ok, they've since gotten back on the line and said that access to all those media files will go away in two days time!

I received this message today. I'd really like to understand more about what this change really means. Why would you remove a feature? Hope it's not a money grab. Someone from Verizon please respond.

Please help me with best/alternative ways to accomplish the same task. I daily send texts with my business card as part of same text and not a few. I'm concerned about the time it would take. It has to be fast to get through a lot of individual texts quickly and not doing group texts.

It's October 20th and searching media files in M+ is still accessible on my moto z4. Did anyone get an update for M+ or their device OS causing the issue? I did not.

@ peter, who is affected by this? I did not receive that message and so far, today nothing has changed...no update yet. Can you provide more detailed info about whether we (and who) can expect an M+ update and when?

The 'Search' option I have in M+ v9.4.5 when adding an attachment is a 'generic internet search' for jpgs, gifs and other media files, NOT local media files on my moto z4 device.. I went to the app store and saw there was an update to M+ so I installed it, v9.4.9. That internet search option is now gone. My devices media files are still accessible. I'm not sure there ever was a 'local' device search option as I never needed it.

Did you get an update to M+? Is the search option there? Do you still have access to local media files?

I received this same notification today and I truly don't understand why you would remove such a wonderful feature. I use this feature to communicate with friends and family.

I just got this message and I'm on a Samsung phone.

Will we get this feature back ? Or how do we attach photos to a message.

Do I need to start looking for different text msg app?

Somewhere here is a response from a Verizon tech that says this message only means that we won’t be able to search within our Message+ ap.

All of our texts, media, photos, etc, will not be going anywhere!

We will all still have full access to our Message+ APS.

I'm just curious what executive decided this change was beneficial to Verizon? Don't they realize that every other carrier and every other vendor still support searching for and attaching pictures and gifts from the internet into messages? This puts Verizon at a severe disadvantage from other vendors and makes us want to switch to them from you because you guys didn't care about enough about your customer base to allow this feature to continue to be used in the proper way. So my main question is when are you going to escalate this up the team to get this problem fixed and have these features restored back into the application. It's going to make me stop using this app if you don't restore this functionality because it puts me behind the eight ball with everybody else I contact. They're always sharing pictures and funny little gifts and things and now I will not be able to be part of that and will lose that capability which will make me abandon your app which I have used frequently in the past.

The FAQ DOES NOT explain why this was taken from us. Please send me a private message to help me express what a terrible decision this was. I would also like to know why it was done in such a customer-antagonistic manner.

I have Samsung Galaxy S20 5G, and got the "no more GIFS" message over a texting conversation. I had to click OK to even continue my conversation. So is it my device? Any resolution available?

Obviously this change was done by the Verizon Messaging Team behind the scene. The agents monitoring this Community Forum apparently don't have access to nor knowledge of what the Messaging Team did, let alone why. We can only hope a manager will make an initiative to escalate this and find out for all of us just why this change was made.

I may just leave Verizon after this change, as I liked the feature and used it a lot.

I stopped using Verizon Messaging with this new update and switched to my phone default message app....now I can have all video and Internet images attach again. So I have a Motorola 5G ACE Android phone, do the same and you'll be able to do what you always did before pretty much.... actually I even have more options
