Do I have verizon.net or yahoo.com?

Back in 2017 I was informed that I had to switch to AOL email or Yahoo email. I'm pretty sure that I didn't. I tried to migrate my verizon.net to gmail unsuccessfully. Today I got a spam email with @yahoo.com. I've been using @verizon.net for years. Today, I used gmail to try & send an email to the @yahoo.com address. It came back as @yahoo.com does not exist. I've researched the matter online & it appears that I can import my @verizon.net emails to either AOL or Yahoo depending on which website that I go to. Maybe that's why I was unsuccessful at importing my Verizon emails to gmail. The email URL shows mail.yahoo.com. Maybe I did switch to Yahoo. I'm so confused!

I'm also thinking about switching to Linux. Linux does not accept verizon.net. It will accept Yahoo or Gmail. Thunderbird is the default email client in Linux. I have a Mac. Thunderbird is compatible with the Mac.

So, I'm wondering what the procedure is to import or migrate my verizon.net emails.

What is the difference between importing emails & migrating emails?
