Call and alert sounds have stopped working on Motorolla Barrage; vibrate still works

All call sounds and alert sounds have stopped working on my husband's Motorola Barrage.   It will still vibrate to signal an incoming call.  It is NOT set to "Vibrate only."  He can still converse with the person calling.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

We understand how important it is for your husband to hear the phone sounds. Let's get some details. Do other sounds work on the device, like playing music or videos? Can you test or choose other ringtones and they play?Is there any damage to the phone?
