Home Phone Connect - high pitch squeal noise

My Home Phone Connect has a persistent high-pitch squeal noise.  It gets louder when I dial a number and when audio comes through the receiver.  I have tried several different phone sets.  Does anyone else have this problem, and is there a remedy?

Power down hpc device. On power up try *228 option 2
