How to turn on LG Cosmos 3 without a power button?

Question

The slide on my phone has broken off, so the part with the battery is all the buttons I've got. The power button is on the broken off side. The phone still works, as I used it until it shut down- i removed the battery to silence it. I tried plugging it in.

This does not boot up the phone, unfortunately.

I found with some experimenting that plugging it into a charger for 15 seconds, then unplugging seems to work. I did it with a computer, not sure if that makes a difference.
