NO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION HERE!!!!!
I am!!!!
I am too! Paid last week. For what?
Upgrade??? It's a joke.
nope.. verizon added 1.2million customers last quarter after adding the upgrade fee
guess you're in the minority
I am! The phone was free but then I saw this fee and was very upset. I asked Verizon about it and they said since all the new phones are so technical, they have added phone classes and online support free of charge. Now they have to pay for the workers who teach the classes and answer those free support questions. I said why not charge for the classes cuz I'm sure 90% of us don't attend a class! I thought that was a fair suggestion; then she said most of us do use the on-line tech support. I guess!!!!!!
I posted the below a few days ago, because like you, I found about the $30.00 and I was angry:
“When I asked the same question about the $30.00 rip-off, I also received a response that “everybody does” and she even added that: “AT&T charged $35.00”….
I also tried to find out what I get for the $ 30.00, which was established in April 2012. Something that was not available to customers prior to April 2012. Only one thing came out of her mouth “In-store workshops in your area”.
I tried not to laugh. I just asked if it really some sort of a living soul comes to these meetings. There was no answer.”
VZ added the $30.00 knowing that we will pay. And, we are paying. Forget about this. It’s out of our hand.
cost of living goes up every year. Verizon's network keeps them head and shoulders above their competition.. i'm suprised it wasn't higher to be honest.
It is simple business practice, it is not like it is new to the industry. These smartphones cost the carriers billions of dollars every year... i'm sure if an aspect of your business was losing money year after year at a higher and higher rate you would try to plug that hole right?
I understand your point – everything goes up.
But, if the whole burden has been placed only on a loyal, long standing VZW customers, I think that it is not fair.
New customers do not pay the $30.00, but as soon as they sign a contract they will use the same VZW service like those who must paid.
HERE EITHER :smileysad: !!
buy the phone elsewhere and there will be no fee....and go by that's retailer's terms (amazon, costco, radio shack, best buy, etc). i'm sure nobody is "happy" with the fee, but every other carrier has done this for quite some time, so at least verizon was the last to do it.
it would be nice though, if they at least told you about it. i was aware of it already so i didn't care, but i can tell you that when i upgraded my wife's phone the other day, the guy didn't even mention the fee, or go over the terms on that line (upgrade a basic phone to a smartphone). i know i signed a couple of times that told me all of this, but it would be nice if they AT LEAST mentioned the fee, before they ring you up.

That is incorrect for Radio Shack and Best Buy. During the checkout process, both stores advise you online that there is a $ 30 upgrade fee.
In addition, I have not seen anyone report yet stores that don't charge an upgrade fee.
my bad. i had just read a post in one of these threads that stated that they saved $60 by going to radio shack to upgrade 2 lines.
I am.
I have been with VW for 12 years.. at beginning, there was a $100 credit for renewing 2 year contact, then it became $50, then it became $30 with $30 upgrade fee..
It became worse when I returned a defective phone using the return label from VM in order to get a replacement, the returned phone was lost, they could not find it anywhere..
So, first time paid upgrade fee, first time returned a defective phone, first time saw the the phone lost in shipping or warehouse (I have to the pay for lost phone)
Are they getting any better, I cannot agree..

It'll show up on their next bill. Indirect dealers don't charge it at time of purchase, but vz puts it on the next bill. I bought my phone off of newegg, and sure enough i saw it on the next bill.
yep, it's a load... Got a $30 discount on my new phone, then paid the $30 upgrade fee (for what, exactly?), so back to square 1. All "upgrade' done by yours truly, no one at Verizon had to touch a thing, except the poor bastard getting paid minimum wage to stuff new phones in boxes for shipping. Verizon's got us over a barrel here as no one has else coverage, but I keep hoping for alternative providers to step up to the plate and give these guys some serious competition.
I can assure you no one in verizon is making minimum wage.. the starting rate is usually in the $14/hr range
That's true but things like shipping phones are all done by subcontractors and I can guarantee you these are slave labor jobs.

thats their main warehouse for clnr's
SO ANGRY I COULD S P I T! We are on a Grandfathered Alltel plan now 'Absorbed by Verizon'...EVERY agent I spoke with has remarked how we are able to 'upgrade' and retain the amazing plan we HAVE...THE CATCH: The agents AND a store manager said no new phone needed to trade out a phone until we decide what to upgrade to... HA!!!! I Call TODAY to switch out phones and TAA-DAA...'we're sorry, but Verizon will NOT activate a non-verizon branded phone - regardless if it's compatiable with our service!!! (Too many freebies with Alltel phones!) But if I want to upgrade to a 'basic phone' I only have to pay discounted price AND upgrade fee AND possible data charge AND Shipping AND Tax AND they are 'moving away from' BASIC PHONES' so the choice is limited to no free phones in store and $50-$199 BASIC phones on-line AND we have to extend our contract for 2 years.... REALLY? If ONE MORE PERSON SAYS "I'M SORRY (for the misinformation)" but that's the way it is I'll scream! So loyalty suggests I serch the web for used Verizon phones -because...I have an amazing plan. Share everything SHOULD be re-named 'GOTCHA'. Celebrating NOT being in contract right now.....read the web re: Verizon data plan/upgrades ...very angry birds.
@ commonmsense101 ... how many ppl do u think DO NOT believe u work for Verizon? I worked for competitor and we were also put in the position to 'just charge em PERIOD.' But we were honest and forthcoming about all charges UP FRONT. No surprises after the fact and no misinformation to lock in a contract. U could listen to EVERY ONE of my recorded calls for all 4 hours today AND NOT ONE AGENT advised of an upgrade fee!!!!!!!!!
Yes...I have been with Verizon since the beginning of time. I have went through 3 company name changes and numerouse upgrades through the years. And like many of the others that have replied; it went from $100.00 to $50.00 to $30.00 (which is totaly washed out by the new upgrade fee of guess what...$30.00) This latest upgrade I made was so frustrating that it never showed my $30.00 (Verizon loyalty discount) yeah right, but they did charge me the $30.00 upgrade fee of course. I was told it was taken off the phone...but I never saw it. Going to the local Verizon stores is a joke. There are new people there everytime I go (Usually a fresh out of school, fast talking, green horn, that is just there for a sale not to help with anything.) I am so frustrated. I see the commercials about how good Verizon is suppose to be and years ago that might have been true...but not anymore. And please Verizon; just be honest, just say we don't give any more discounts, no how, no way, at all on anything to anybody. And we will tack on fees and charges as we see fit. No customers loyalty, no customer service, you should have no customers! VERY DISSATISFIED!
Unreal... just got off the phone with Verizon to question the $30 upgrade fee. the response was that it was because they give me discounts on the phones when I renew my contract. Wait, I thought you gave me a discount to on the phones so that I DO renew my 2 YEAR CONTRACT to remain your CUSTOMER! What a joke! Just be up front with it, don't make it sound like you are doing me a favor with discounted phones and then charge me for your discount.
I am with you I get a $30 discount to upgrade but then I am charged $30 to "upgrade". My current phone is the Droid X I wasn't charged this when the smart phone first came out so why now?

The upgrade fee wasn't in place when you purchased the Droid X. The upgrade fee came into existence in April 2012 for customers of Verizon Wireless. If you were on another carrier like AT&T for example, you would have experienced an upgrade fee when you purchased a new phone two years ago and today when you are looking to upgrade again.
Ann154,
I had someone call me and she did tell me about the $30 upgrade. She said it is a one time upgrade to enhance the system. Do you know if this is true or will be paying anytime we want to upgrade our phone through VZW?
K!

I am SICK that they continue to downgrade their service and upgrade the fees and charges. I want to upgrade 2 phones. At this point if Verizon doesn't match what the competition can offer. Then they don't need or want my 20+ years of service. I am tired of AI or apologizing to agents I can't understand and who don't understand me because the labor is so much CHEAPER overseas. And devices aren't work 1/3 of their cost. Paying for Verizon now-a-days only means you can afford the service not that the service is any better. I will no longer regret moving to anothet carrier to get the deal I want. And I will NOT pay an upgrade fee. Verizon DOESN'T CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS just milking as much $ from suckers as they can until they too fail.
If you for one second think Verizon is LOSING $ on phone UPGRADES you are SORELY mistaken. Every year a customer stays with Verizon the more profit they make. Learn your facts.
VERIZON lost 3 of my phones :at the "warehouse". They ran me in circles until the return period closed. They NEVER applied the promised near $2200 credit for the returns, charged me FULL price for the 3 new phones AND kept the working returned ones!! One was in pristine like new shape! Crooked game.
