Dear Troubledone,
Good morning. I know the importance of being able to pair your devie to your car. I am sorry to see that you have been experiencing difficulites with pairing your phone to your Ford vehicle.
Before the pairing disconnects, do you see an error message? Does it disconnect while performing a certain function? Have you also tried contacting the dealership regarding your vehicle disconnecting from the Bluetooth connection?
Thank You,

I am having the same issue with a 2009 Lexus RX 350. It's a brand new phone and it will not retain it's bluetooth connection. I read in another forum that the phone has to be open for the bluetooth to work. Is that correct?

@JNTracy
I, too, use my car kit Bluetooth feature daily! Let's ensure you're able to use your Bluetooth feature on your device as well.
You are correct; the LG Exalt currently requires the flip to be open for the Bluetooth functionality to work properly. Are you only experiencing problems when the device is flipped close? Let me know so I can further assist. Thanks!

I also have the same issue with keeping the phone paired. It seems to only work when I turn off bluetooth from the phone to the uconnect device then back on. It will work with the phone closed for the time the truck is on. One I leave and come back, they cannot connect unless I again turn off off bluetooth from that device then back on. What I am reading makes no sense that the phone has to be open, that kind of defeats the purpofe of having the phine in your pocket (and open). I had a Mororola v204 from 2008 with the same truck (2012 liberty) working (closed) without any issue. In fact it worked better. Is there some kind of profile fix for this - it shouldn't be this hard.

Thank you everyone for your feedback.
The software team has provided this information http://bit.ly/1mTjKmX.
Here are some tips/cautions/troubleshooting steps from the User Manual, page #`s referenced (see Tips and Cautions). Please advise if this helps.
Connect & go (pg 5)
Turn off any Bluetooth devices previously paired with
your speakerphone. Then:
1 Turn on Bluetooth on your device.
2 Turn on the speakerphone. After the blue light
comes on and you hear, ready to pair, follow the
voice prompts to pair and connect with the device.
3 Go to the Bluetooth menu on your device,
and enter passcode 0000 if prompted.
4 When the device and speakerphone connect,
you will hear pairing complete.
Tip: After you pair the first time, if you take your device
out of range of the speakerphone and return, press the
Call button on your speakerphone twice, and the
devices will reconnect.
Settings (pg 12)
make some changes
Press and hold while turning on your speakerphone to adjust these settings:
Voice prompts
Caller ID
Multipoint (two phone) connections
Factory default reset
Caution: This action erases all pairing information stored in your speakerphone.
Problems? (pg 13)
My speakerphone will not enter pairing mode
Make sure that any devices previously paired with the
speakerphone are turned off. If the status light is
flashing in blue, first turn off the other device, then turn
the speakerphone off and on. The status light becomes
steadily lit in blue and you hear ready to pair.
My phone doesn`t find my speakerphone when
searching
Make sure the status light on your speakerphone is
steadily lit in blue when your phone is searching for
devices. If not, turn off the speakerphone and press and
hold while turning on again and follow the voice
prompts to reset the speakerphone to factory default
condition. The speakerphone resets and you hear ready
to pair and see the status light steadily lit in blue.
My speakerphone worked before, but now it`s not
working
Make sure your phone is on and the Bluetooth feature is
turned on in your phone. If the Bluetooth feature was
turned off or was turned on only temporarily, you may
need to restart the Bluetooth feature and pair your
phone and speakerphone again (see Connect & go on page 5).
Please let us know if any of these steps have helped.

What happens to my 2014 Ford Escape and my LG Exalt is simply this . . . The Exalt actually goes into Privacy Mode. If you pick up the Exalt handset you just hit 'OK' and it will connect you on the phone with your call and caller - but not over the voice command module in the Ford Sync system.
I will try this fix you have above . . . but if it doesn't work I will be back here to get a correct answer. It is maddening that one of the cheapest phones out there can't Sync with Sync . . . even with Bluetooth 3.0

I have had the same problem with my Priuses. My older prius had no problem pairing with any and all of my previous phones (and family member phones) but kept disconnecting the exalt. the exalt is the only phone I have paired with my new prius, and it still does not connect automatically. Leaving it open will use up the battery a lot faster.
However, on the instructions you cited, it says to hit the call button twice to reconnect the Bluetooth after you've been away. What is the call button on the Exalt? I see no button on the Exalt that corresponds to the icon on the button shown in the online manual you reference. If I hit the send button twice it goes to my call history and calls the top number, so that will not work.
This really is a crappy phone. The non-smart phones I used to have worked a lot better.

Also, when I first paired the exalt it worked in the closed phone mode, so I do not understand why having it open would make a difference on subsequent uses.

Does anyone have any idea why my Bluetooth connectivity drops off periodically as in whenever it wants to, on my LG Exalt cell phone? It's not only driving Verizon nuts but intern it's doing a number on me! I purchased this phone new one month ago coming from Sprint to Verizon. Yippee! Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

From reading about all of the LG Exalt Bluetooth issues it's apparent to me there's a problem with the phone period NOT your Bluetooth item you're trying to connect with! It's time we hold Verizon accountable and have our LG Exalt phones fixed, given a brand-new replacement, or give us a free upgrade to a better phone! Something needs to wake Verizon up because I've talk to countless representatives in the technical department until I was blue in the face and tired of talking! They were constantly trying to tell me it wasn't the phone's Bluetooth problem it was the unit I was trying to connect to. I've been a technical technician myself and unfortunately I can't figure this out other than to say there is undoubtedly an issue with another program perhaps which is on the phone.
This is just plain WRONG!!!

I posted a very negative review on the exalt page itself stating I had talked to a rep at lg who said the phone had to be open to connect (not entirely correct), and the phone's capabilities were mandated by Verizon. Verizon did not post my review (although I received two e-mails at the exact same time one stating they could not post my review, the other stating it had been posted. These were more than 24 hour after I submitted my post. From what I read I did not violate their guidelines). I have sent in a new review and I will see what happens.
as I have indicated to Verizon this is a safety issue as so many states mandate handsfree calling while driving. There is nothing worse than thinking your phone is connected and then being unable to use it when it rings or when yu need to make a call. I told them it smacked of the same coverup as GM. It is an election year after all.
More exalt owners need to get involved in complaining about this. I agree that it is a phone defect. Verizon needs to provide a software fix for it.

I know how convenient it is to be able to use bluetooth capabilities while driving JC50. I use mine all the time. I'm here to help fix your concerns! Please share additional details as to what specific difficulties you're having. Have you tested the phone with more than one bluetooth capable accessory?

My car is handsfree - a 2014 prius. My car prior to this through May was a 2010 prius. My car prior to that was a 2007 prius. Everyone phone I have had with you when I had handsfree - and that goes back 8 years now had no trouble automatically connecting to the car everytime I got in once I had gone through the initial steps to sync it. And only one was a smart phone. And they did not need to be in an open position. This exalt does not connect automatically. I have to take steps to connect it 80% of the time I get back in the car which is particularly annoying when I'm running errands and in and out of the car a lot. It is also dangerous when I am driving to think I have Bluetooth and then I do not.
I do not care about bluetooth connectivity to any other device than my car. From the posts I have seen this is a design flaw in this phone because the same thing happens to others who have different cars. When I bought this phone the Bluetooth connectivity to handsfree was an essential requirement because Illinois law requiring handsfreee calling took effect statewide 1/1/2014. Many other states have similar requirements. You market this phone to seniors, but then endanger their lives by having defective Bluetooth. We really do not want senior citizens answering their phones by hand while they are driving, do we? I will be there in a few years.
I have been on your technical posts, as well as the exalt review post where you have rejected my two posts on the failure of the Bluetooth of the phone in a car. Why have you rejected my posts if you were not engaged in a coverup? Or because you did not want to pay the cost of fixing the phones? Or replacing them? Surely a simple software update would suffice. I would think you would heed what has happened to GM with their ignition switches.
FYI, of the two posts I attempted to do in my review of the exalt first I got an e-mail stating it had been posted and almost simultaneously got an e-mail stating it could not be posted and I needed to review your guidelines. Well, I did. I am an attorney and I have a fairly good understanding of language. You just did not want to post my review because it would negatively impact sales, and then there would become a clamor for fixing this problem.
I have had personal correspondence for others on the technical forum stating that technical support was unable to resolve this problem. I want to know what the problem is. As I wrote in my first review that was not posted, I talked with customer service at LG and that person told me exalt was manufactured to Verizon specifications, and any fix would have to be requested by Verizon. Do not waste my time unless you actually have a fix. I am seriously considering writing my state and federal representatives.

Let me throw my hat into the ring as well. I have a 2013 Toyota Corolla and my Exalt is dropping the bluetooth connection as well. I have also tried it with my Plantronics M50 headset and it also gets dropped. My Plantronics headset has not that problem with any other phone. I think you have a real problem here. Let's own up to it and find us a solution please.

I have the exact same issue as rrsta in post #4. My new Exalt (less than a week old) pairs just fine and while paired never drops. And I can leave the phone closed no problem. But leave and come back and it will not repair with the other device. This happens with pairing to my car (2 years old) and pairing to a new Panasonic LinkToCell phone system. We have had no problems pairing an older model smart phone to these either the car or the LinkToCell. Only this Exalt phone. I have to turn off Bluetooth and then turn it on again and it will re-pair no problem.
Is there a solution to this yet?

I would add - we also have no problems pairing to the car or the LinkToCell with another brand new smart phone. So a 5 year old smart phone (droid incredible) and a new smartphone (Samsung Note 3) connect to these devices just fine. The Exalt wont reconnect after you leave and come back. On a rare occasion it will. But I usually have to turn off the blue tooth and turn it back on again, on the phone.
I would add - I really do not want to get a new phone. Of all the basic phones you offered, this one had the best sound quality. And as much of a pain it is to restart bluetooth every time, its still a better phone. But its clear there is an issue with this phone and Verizon should seek a fix for it.

Any thoughts or response from Verizon? Baically I (and it sounds like everyone) bought a Phone that does not work properly with Bluetooth. I expect a response about potential resolutions from Verizon on this issue - or at least some willingness ot work on the issue with users.

@Gamul1,
Staying safe while drivong is a must and the bluetooth is the perfect way to do that! So I definitely understand the importance of having it working properly.
You mentioned that when paired to your vehicle you have no problems and it will not drop the connection, but once you leave and come back it does not recognize the connection. Does this happen with other bluetooth devices or just your vehicle? Have you reached out to the vehicle manufacturer regarding this concern?
Please try deleting the bluetooth connection to your vehicle and power cycle the phone. Turn the vehicle off/on and then re-pair the bluetooth. Give this a try and keep us posted if the issue persists.

I thought I already explained this so I apologize if I was not clear. And I can add something to my earlier findings.
In this discussion are multiple devices:
- Phones
- LG Exalt
- Samsung Note 3 (brand new)
- older Droid Incredible phone
- Bluetooth device to sync the phones to
- Panasonic Link To Cell phone system (brand new)
- 2012 Toyota Camry
- Motorola bluetooth headset (3 years old)
If I connect the Samsung Note 3, or the Droid Incredible to any of the 3 devices that are bluetooth capable, they connect, stay connected, and reconnect everytime I have them on and near each other. There are no connection issues at all.
If I connect the LG Exalt to any of the 3 devices listed (Panasonic, Camry and Motorola), it connects wonderfully the first time. It does not drop calls. And stays connected the whole time I am there. However, walk away from the devices, which is normal, and when I come back the Exalt is not connected to the devices and wont connect no matter how long they sit near each other. This happens 90% of the time. Occasionally it actually will reconnect but its not often. When it does not - there is only one way I can get it to connect, which is to go into the Exalt bluetooth settings, turn off bluetooth and then turn it back on. About 10 seconds later the phone and the device will now connect, and while connected, it works perfectly. Again, until I leave and come back and the cycle repeats. And I have tried unpairing and repairing the devices but it has not helped the situation. Nor would I expect it to based on these results. Its not a simple connection issue - its a core problem with the Exalt.
Does this help? Is the situation now clearer? And it should be clear based on the above test results - that there is only one common denominator here, and only a single possible problem - the Exalt Phone. I am 100% sure the Exalt is the problem, and it should now be clear to Verizon that the Exalt is the problem. It is 100% clear to Verizon customers.
Let me know if you need additional info. And I would like to know what the plan is on resolving this issue.

Here's the easiest solution to all your Bluetooth problems while using Verizon's LG Exalt phone:
Take your phone back to Verizon and demand to change that phone out for an entirely different MAKE OF PHONE, SUCH AS, MOTOROLA, IPHONE, SAMUNG, Etc.! You will then have no problem paring it or having it come unpaired... For what ever reason!
Simple as that!
Please, End of subject!
