Lumia 735 Windows 10 Update Thread

Why wait just go... They are not going to push out on 1 person making a threat to leave them. They get those on a daily basis, and they all rarely follow through or they get replaced by someone who leaves another carrier.

War......have you thought about the insiders method?

I will be doing it very soon and won't be looking back regardless of what they decide to do.

I didn't buy the 735 because of VZW and if they don't support it, so be it.

Face it folks.....customer service and the support of the devices we purchase from them is an after thought that they preach but because it doesn't add to their bottom line it is a very hollow song they sing.

Look, this is a nice canned reply, but the 735 exists on the update list. That's the model being discussed on this thread.

Verizon and Microsoft are looking at the update schedule. Of course, historically VZW has taken months to get 'round to "testing" Windows updates (apparently not a high priority). Why not surprise customers and make them Very Very happy and loyal now?

I appreciate testing, but that should already have been done by now if the Windows customers really matter.

Now what could be very useful is an estimated release date - even release month.

Look Verizon I understand that you as a company are trying to be diligent and make sure that the upgrade goes as planned. However that being said if every other provider is already pushing the upgrade and Microsoft has made it available, I simply don't see what more is needed. If your network isn't ready to support it then that's on you not your loyal customers. I brag about Verizon to all of my friends and family that have ATT. I have encouraged and helped multiple people switch to Verizon, and at the moment the only thing I fell I have gotten out of it us absolutely nothing. If your not going to give us the option to upgrade to the newer Windows Phones that are available then at least give us the software upgrade. I'm not going to threaten to leave Verizon or anything like that, it just feels that you could give your customers more.

There is absolutely no excuse or reason for your slow response, I never had to wait long for an update or upgrade for my Android device when I had one, so I know that you can easily send out upgrades and updates when it pleases you.

At the end of the day what I am trying to say is complete and utter laziness on your part does not warrant patience or understanding on my part. Thank you for your time and attention.

How many people at Verizon should be dedicated to getting out an update for a HANDFUL of 735 owners? Face it -- W10M has such a minuscule following that nobody is prioritizing it. You can join the preview program and get developer builds of W10M right now, direct from Microsoft.

By releasing GSM-only phones, Microsoft's limited compatibility stance isn't helping to improve Windows Mobile's standing with Verizon Wireless and Sprint customers.

Microsoft has released 4 Lumia models recently and none of them can be brought onto VZW or Sprint. 2 more Lumia models are rumored to be in the works (750 & 850) and chances are pretty good that they too will be incompatible.

If Microsoft released the 550, 950 & 950XL and then went into a holding pattern until the Surface Phone was ready, that would be one thing. But this conga line of new at&t/T-Mobile/Cricket centric phones looks bad for Verizon Wireless customers who want a new model.

When the Surface Phone is released, will the price tag be such that only businesses can afford to buy it?

There does seem to be a problem as I have a Lumia 735 and it does show as one of the phones to be upgraded. That being true I downloaded the Upgrade Adviser and when it got done it said " The Windows 10 Upgrade isn't available for your phone right now, Were trying to determine if you phone can support Windows 10."

Can you please advise on a release date; I have backed up and I have 10.51 GB free on the phone

The insider upgrade takes about 2 hours and for me some personal selection changes. Nice to have ..... finally.

Too many warnings including loss of phone service, etc. to make the jump on my only phone. I will wait until Verizon and Microsoft sort it out and send it as an update. I would like to know about how long that will be though

You can always down load the MS recovery tool.

Download the MS recovery tool for your phone to your home PC and then on your phone download the WM 10 insiders update. You just might like it!

I am a Windows Insider for Windows 10 Mobile. We have 2 735's. My phone is running Windows 10 Mobile Version 1511 and I'm a Verizon customer. Windows 10 runs fine on my phone. So what is the holdup?

Everything is working well except. My Hotmail account. And it does not even allow me to remove it. And start over. Any suggestions?

Hotmail has been problematic for me on several different platforms. And with Microsoft phasing it out in favor of Outlook.com it's questionable if you'll get support for setting up a mobile platform correctly.

I transitioned to Outlook.com from Hotmail and Outlook works perfectly. But I'm afraid even the official instructions from Microsoft may not work for you. The settings you need are in this article: Set up Hotmail/Outlook as an Exchange account on your Android device | Vodafone Support

Even though it's for Vodafone, the settings like server names/addresses are universal.The last mobile device I got Hotmail to work on, even semi-reliably, was a BlackBerry.

Thank you and got it back with a little doing. I am currently motoring around on windows 10 Version 1511 OS build 10.0.14295.1000 and all is well. I do not suggest going this far ahead but the second Insider version I downloaded many things were quirky. If you listen the the other members on the forum carefully you can get to windows 10 production version. That is my suggestion but you have to follow directions very carefully.

Tidbits...I was not referring to their licensing of the radios. I said Microsoft is NOT releasing new phones with CDMA radios because Verizon, the only company for practical purposes using CDMA, blocks updates until they are forced to allow them through their network. Why license radios on phones that will not get updates in a timely manner making your devices and OS look bad? Seems like a good idea to me saves them money and reputation.

That speculation people are saying is the most stupid I have ever heard. Sure let's shrink our markets hare even more because we can't have our way when in fact THEY can have their way. Learn the Block C rules which Google, Motorola, and Apple are taking advantage of... then say because Microsoft can't have their way like they are children.

To top it off Verizon has to give Microsoft all the keys and software to make sure things like VoLTE and XLTE and such work.

So to say Microsoft is doing it because they are not allowing them to support their own products is fallacy because if they wanted to they can cut all relationships and roll out devices without them interfering with updates.

From my reading Windows 10 will be covered under Block C rules. Verizon by delaying the roll out is taking advantage of the situation. Microsoft is replying their way. Sure it hurts them but old OS's and phones promised to have upgrades that aren't allowed by a company in the middle hurts them more. Why would they want that kind of pain? They are taking enough of a hit because they promised to upgrade all the Windows 8.1 phones to 10 and for whatever reason can't or won't. I have not checked recently but I think my old Lumia 822 has been dropped. I put it on the Insider Program Fast Ring and it works good but I don't have it attached to Verizon anymore as a cell phone. Updates are no longer under Verizon's thumb.

Microsoft "let's punish Verizon for not letting us support our products, and not make a CDMA phone." That punishes their diehard fans more than Verizon. But if they really wanted to punish big bad Verizon is to take advantage of block C and force Verizon to accept them and at the same time let their customers have a device they want and get the support they expect from Microsoft.

Motorola did it, Google did it, Apple did it, and why can't Microsoft do it?

No it isn't covered by block C rules, because of contractual agreement and Microsoft agreed to the testing. If Microsoft just made their own device like the 950 and made it work then it would be protected by block C rules. The FCC already weighed in on this.

I've been with Verizon for over 20 years I think, ever since 360 Communications. I'm in the same boat. March is gone, April is looming but still no Windows Mobile 10 for my Lumia 735. I love my phone but I grow weary of waiting. My wife has an Apple 6 on Verizon and, of course, the updates come to the phone like the tide ebbs and flows.

Sad affair to say the least. Again we're pawns

I totally concur with your well crafted letter response. I'm a loyal Verizon customer and have been since 360 Communication, however I'm disappointed as well with the lack of support for Windows based phones. I like Windows phones because they're oriented more towards power users and business environment and less on game apps and that sort of environment. My wife's Apple 6 on Verizon updates like clockwork and it is frustrating. Being the largest carrier, Verizon could move light years ahead if they'd get behind Microsoft and push the Windows Mobile 10 platform

VZW may have the best network but it's dedication to supporting devices on the worlds best network is subpar besides the iPhone. They should split off the device business to someone else who can actual support and manage the devices properly.

I have talked with both Verizon and Microsoft at this moment it seems to be that they are both blaming each other. However they also say that they are working on it. It seems as if both Verizon and Microsoft are acting like children and we are getting caught in the crossfire.

As Tidbits has noted, if Microsoft had submitted any or all of the latest Lumia phones for CDMA certification, Verizon Wireless would have no choice but to allow the phones onto the network. If VZW tried to block access, the FCC would slap VZW with fines and possibly revoke licenses to operate on certain frequencies.

Microsoft has admitted that it is taking a limited approach as it relates to the new Lumia phones. That has led to the theory that the next Windows Mobile phone that should be compatible with Verizon Wireless will be the anticipated Surface Phone.
