Well I am guessing that we wont get this update either. I had to sign up as a Dev to get update 3.
I would also like to know when this is being pushed out. Looks like its already been approved by other carriers. VZW always seems to be behind on "Approvals".
Shows here it's waiting on them: http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/availability-in-north-america/
Nokia bundled Lumia Black with update three on the standard update cycle. If you already have update 3 you will just get black when everyone else is getting update 3 along with black.
I would hazard a guess that the Lumia Icon is the holdup. At least that's the scuttlebutt.
A lot of people already have the Update3 (unofficially through Microsoft). What everyone wants is the ability to use the features that come with the new Nokia Black firmware update. There are apps that can be downloaded and used on the Lumia 928 but only if you have the Nokia Black firmware update. These new features such as Glance screen notifications, Nokia Beamer app, etc. CANNOT be used without the Nokia Black firmware update, even with the Update3 installed. Verizon needs to put this out to us customers WITHOUT DELAY! If this takes more than a few weeks to get out, I might have to consider filing a class action lawsuit against Verizon for discrimination. If Apple iPhone users can get firmware updates directly from Apple immediately without Verizon testing anything, then Microsoft/Nokia users should have the same capability. Otherwise it's discrimination!
I agree. I really wish Verizon stop discriminating against those who don't use Android and iPhone. If this going to be the treatment WP users are going to get, T-Mobile or AT&T maybe the way to go. T-Mobile will buyout our Verizon contracts.
It is a shame that we have waited this long and still don't have GDR3. There are a lot of great features I am ready to use. If this is the norm, then I think I am going to be looking elsewhere when my contract is up, just a few months.
WOOHOO!!!!! Checked for an update just now. Something is installing as we speak!!!
Oh boogers!..just a minor system update. Well at least its a start. Maybe this is needed for GDR3 and Lumia Black...
I updated Monday (1/27) and now NONE of my non-native applications will open.
Just does this refresh animation back to the homescreen.
Anyone else having this issue / know how to resolve without a hard reset?
How could you have updated to GDR3 with Nokia Black with Nokia Black firmware update is not available yet on Verizon for the Lumia 928?
Bc it wasn't the Black update, just the latest update VZW pushed through.
Verizon is late because they have to strip out the things in Black that they charge us extra for. Like..spam call blocking, which was released with Amber UNLESS you are a Verizon customer.
If they block it again in Black, or don't release it to us on the 928, my contract will expire and all 7 lines will move to a new carrier. Promise.
Lumia Black is live! Check phone for updates now! Be sure to connect to Wifi and fully charge your phone first
Got this one last night. So far so good (post updating)
I updated my Nokia 928 to Lumia Black last night, but the Storyteller App and the Beamer App will not load - have you tried these apps?
Same problem here. I don't know what gives
Sent from my Windows Phone
Are they 3rd party apps or Nokia apps?
3rd party app makers may not have their apps updated to run the latest version (Nokia Black) yet.
I'd recommend contacting them.
The apps I have installed currently seem to be good (several of them had updates waiting in the app store for me)
I just got the Lumia Black update however I get a message that Nokia Beamer app is not available for my phone or carrier. All the other black specific apps are installable.
I suspect Verizon is blocking this one. They either want to charge us for it or are afraid of bandwidth issues. I really hate when VZ does crap like this.
Nokia Beamer is THE app I rally want. I do lots of demos and this the only way to project apps on my phone to a laptop.
@mhammo - This was not Verizon's fault. Nokia had problems with the software and needed to make changes. They have since reloaded the Nokia Beamer and Nokia Storyteller back in the Microsoft Store and it is available. I have downloaded both and they work great!
Same the updated ones work just fine.
