Samsung Brightside menu turned blue

Suddenly all by itself the menu screen turned bright blue on my husband's phone and when you go to Display Settings there is only 'green' and 'bright blue' under the display options choices, no orange.

My phone however still has orange and green as the only choices,

Mine did this last night as well. All I know is that there was a software upgrade, and after it was through my only menu options were blue and green. Strange that they would remove a color option instead of just giving us the option for an additional color

It's odd that only my husband's phone did this. I have the same phone and still have the orange and green options

perhaps his phone is set to auto-update, and yours is not? Either way, I hate the blue and the green and hope they bring back the orange

When I checked the update status under Phone Info it says an update had been rejected. So I went to new updates and it downloaded and now I have the green and blue.

Does anyone know if the theme color was the only update or were other things changed as well?

How can you tell what the update was specifically for?

Mine just did this about 20 minutes ago and I hate it! :smileysad: Orange is my favorite color and there really isn't much we can customize about this crappy phone.

Same happened to me I hate it....I was thinking of restoring the phone to factory default but not sure if back up assistant would restore my contacts and stuff.

I hear your frustration regarding your phone's software update ... to save you from further frustration -- restoring your phone to factory default will not reverse a software update.

Spoke to Verizon, they said Samsung will send updates to their phones that are not part of Verizon...basically we are stuck with the blue or green option only...sigh. Restore will not work as you said. At least I have the option to return the phone since I only have had it for 3 days and get something else...just going to switch for a smart phone so I have a choice to decline upgrades if I want to, with the basic phones there is no choice to decline software updates. At this point I think I will just return the phone...yes the blue/green screens bother me that much since I have issues with my eyesight. Will go for a smart phone so I can customize the phone for what works for me and would have more options.

You may want to do your research before switching phones ... especially reading the threads about people upset that their smartphone updated without their knowledge and changed/removed things that they are unhappy with.

I'm not trying to discourage you from a smartphone at all, there are definitely advantages over a basic phone. But there also are disadvantages, and some issues are similar across all phones.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I know there are a lot of people who like orange, but personally I really like the blue option. The orange had the brown at the bottom, and that was ugly. I am grateful for the blue, otherwise my phone would be forever green. However, I do agree that it shouldn't have been taken away. I think we should have all 3, and why not more?! Pink, purple, yellow,......etc. If we're all going to complain about it, for those of us that like blue, lets get them to add colors and not change it back to just green and orange.

My phone changed also and it is disgusting. Only menu choices are blue or green. Did the "reset" and did not change a thing. Called local Verizon sales office and they checked 2 phones in stock. Only choice blue or green. I am thoroughly disgusted with my phone now.

Mine did that today, too.

My guess is, they want us to dislike the simple phones so they can sell us a "smart" phone for more money.

I'm resisting an upgrade due to the extra monthly $$$ and NSA spyable back door.
