Switching basic phone to smart phone on existing line

My daughter has a basic phone on my shared plan. She purchased a Verizon compatible phone and wants to switch her device. How do I do this?

I left out that she purchased a smart phone and wants to switch her basic phone to smart phone.

If your data is shared (More Everything or Verizon Plan), then call CS (800-922-0204) or go online to activate her new phone; she will simply share the data you already have, for the same line access fee she pays now.
If you are on the Nationwide or other legacy plan, then you will be required to add a data plan for her line, $30 for 2GB.
What plan are you on? And what phone, specifically, do you want to switch her to?
