Trouble deleting text messages from Extravert 2

I had the same problem with my LG Extravert 2. I called Verizon and talked to a really good tech guy. LG is working on a software update to fix this known problem. Should be out soon. A week or two. Maybe tomorrow. You'll know when you get the update. It's supposed to be sent to our phones for us to choose to install. For the meantime, this worked for my phone, try erasing all of your messages. It probably won't appear to have worked. Now, power down your phone. Remove the battery for at least 30 seconds. Power it back up. Still having problems? Cause I was. Only different problems. The messages appeared gone, but it was saying memory low, inbox full, even though it now said no messages were available in my messaging. Crazy. Now, power down again. Remove the battery for at least 30 seconds. Power it back up and hopefully it works. It did for me. So far anyway. The tech said to also try, once removing the battery, to hold down the power button down for a few seconds to clear all the power all out. But, it worked without me doing that part. Keep trying the battery routine a few times if nothing is helping, I would think. Good luck.

I had the same problem as you with the low memory messages. I was ticked at first because the phone was only about a week old at the time and I hadn't taken many pictures and no video and had *finally* gotten my texts to delete. I kind of thought to myself 'how on earth is it possible to have low memory already?!?!' But then, like you did, I powered down and removed the battery again and it hasn't given me a problem since. My daughter's phone though seems to be much more stubborn! I'll give it another shot in the order you listed above and see if it helps. Otherwise, I guess we'll just wait it out and see if the update works.

Same problem, 1 week after your post... Still no update with a fix... Kind of surprised at why it would take so long to fix such a basic feature as deleting a text message. Common LG and Verizon, let's fix this

That's about when I started having the same problem with mine. I actually just had to get a new one sent to me because the first one completely froze up on me and wouldn't turn back on. So far, no problem with the new one, but I haven't tried to delete anything. While on the phone with the tech person for that problem, I asked about the software update that Z1234 referred to, but she knew nothing about it. She recommended that I call LG directly and ask about it. I haven't done that yet, but will try this week.

I did manage to figure out a slight loophole. If you go to the main screen (press the lock button, slide or drag lock screen.. now you're at the main screen. Sorry, I have no idea about technical terms here! lol ) then slide to the right, it should come up with all your texts listed in order of when they were sent/received. Then open each one individually and then erase. Such a pain it the butt, but I was able to delete most of them. Had a lot of them still stuck though.

Anyway, glad to know that it's not just us, but sorry you're having the same problem. I know how frustrating it is! If I find out something new on the update, I'll try to post. We're leaving for a week long camping trip on saturday, so I'm pretty busy this week! But I know my daughter is going to be itching to get her hands on her phone again (just dropped her at camp today and phones aren't allowed!) so I'd like to get it figured out before we pick her up!

My daughter is having the same problem with her new Extravert 2. We are currently deleting one at a time just so she can receive messages. Not sure what is the solution.

We've been doing the same. I got a bunch more to delete, but the older ones are still stuck. I went ahead and changed her settings so they don't auto save, that way at least no new ones get stuck. Hopefully anyway!

I started having problems again 2 days ago. New problems. When I send a text it says, "Text message will not be saved. Memory full..." I have tons of room in the phone's memory. I'm able to receive and store incoming texts, but it won't store my sent ones, because it thinks it's full. I even did a phone restore which wipes out everything. Didn't help. And about that update... who knows if and when that will ever arrive. I'm having verizon send me a replacement. I hope all LG Extravert 2s aren't defective.

Ugh! How annoying! My daughter's is doing the same thing. I'm thinking we may need to get her a new one too, but I haven't decided yet. It's not too much of a problem with hers, since she's 11 and most of her texts are "yeah" or "cool", or I'm soooooo bored!" and don't really need to be saved. lol But it's obnoxious that we even have this problem with a phone that is only a couple months old.

Let's ensure that text messages are not "Locked", See page 77 of the Device Manual for steps for locking and unlocking messages: http://vz.to/1hAjp6D. Also you can change your Messaging Setting option to "Auto Erase Inbox" which will automatically delete read messages when you exceed the message inbox storage limit. I have had this exact same problem!

My daughter has had this phone for 2 months, and within the first month, it had this problem and had to be replaced. Now tonight it seems like it happened again. I am tired of fixing this and we had it taken into the store and everything and it still wouldn't delete the messages. Really hoping for LG to get the update quickly, We are going to have to get the 3rd LG extravert, in only 2 months.

So, I guess if this is an LG problem because it has to do with the software, my question is this... What is Verizon doing to stay on top of LG and get this update out for their customers? Why is Verizon not breathing down LG's necks to get this update out? Seems to me that you (Verizon) have enough customers complaining about this problem and threatening to take their business elsewhere for you to in turn put pressure on LG. We (your customers, some who have been with you for YEARS) are important to you right? That's what we're told when we contact you. SO.. what are you doing to solve this problem for us? I mean other than asking US to do resets and check to see if we unlocked the messages? Because those things ARE NOT solving the problem.

I will say this about the phone... a couple weeks ago, mine froze up completely. I called Verizon and was able to quickly get a new one sent out for free. A week later, we left on vacation. While on vacation, we went to a local river to swim for the day. I broke a couple of my own rules that day (you know how vacation can be crazy!) and put my phone in my pocket. Long-ish story short, I walked straight into the river with it still in my pocket. I literally DROWN my phone. For like, 15mins. I was sure it wouldn't make it. As soon as I realized what had happened, I took the snap on case off, took the back off and removed the battery. I dried it all out, put the battery back in, and turned it on. It came on, but the touch screen was useless, and the screen was jumpy. I decided to leave it in the sun (cause how much more could it really hurt at that point? I was already banking on having to shell out the $80 for a new one). I slid it open for more exposure and flipped it every 10 or so minutes. We stayed down at the river for another few hours after that and then bought some rice when we got back in town. While my husband was in the store, I tried it again. Much to my amazement, I was able to use the touch screen and send and receive a text message! Couldn't make calls though. I left it in rice for a couple days while I enjoyed the rest of our vacation and pulled it out on our long drive home. The damn thing works perfectly. I was able to make calls and hear and be heard just fine. There doesn't seem to be any problems with it what-so-ever. So, I guess the phone isn't ALL bad! lol

I'm a programmer and after going through exhaustive tech support (removing battery, hard reset, factory reset, etc.) was sent a second phone and same exact problems started a couple days after receiving it (Note: I had made sure not to change any factory setting except for ringtones). Errors are while sending outgoing text getting "Text message not saved. Memory is full or messages are locked." Also can't erase all messages/drafts. I've been "upped" to Level 2 support, unfortunately, after being on hold for over 20 mins each time I'm at my wit's end. Obviously with this many people having the same problem this is a major issue with the phone and/or software and needs to be resolved NOW and accounts partially credited.

I have the LG Extravert 2 as well. Does not delete messages. I keep popping out battery, resetting etc. Won't even erase single messages. Messages showing up also show up as "no content." So frustrating. I use the phone for work and it is really costing me. I have had this issue for over a month now. Please get a fix. It can't continue to go on like this.

Hey Verizon, I received my replacement phone. Not good. (See my earlier posts to see what was wrong with my first phone.) After three or four days of having my replacement phone, I realized that I could only delete certain sent text messages, while other sent text messages were stuck and cemented in my phone. They are all normal texts. Nothing special. I just can't delete them. These LG Extravert 2 phones are defective. There is nothing the users or techs can do to help with the issues of being unable to delete our texts. This has been 100% proven. I've done phone restores to delete everything back to factory status, but the texts are still not being deleted even after doing that. I have spent hours on the phone with Verizon doing waste of time troubleshooting, long hold times, and more than once being disconnected with techs without call backs. Verizon, if you do not address the fact that these phones are defective and resolve these issues, I will strongly consider switching carriers. You are selling faulty phones. Own up to it and help out your customers. It's been two months now of putting up with this. Where are the software updates to fix this? All I can do is keep getting defective replacements it seems. Right?

That does seem a bit odd. We don't want you missing any important phone calls or text that have to deal with work. If you try to delete the messages do you get an error that comes up? Good luck with getting a response from customer support. They are clueless! All you have to do to understand that is to read their responses on HERE!! They keep suggesting fixes that everyone has already tried or trying!! AND THEY KEEP SELLING THESE DEFECTIVE PHONES!! Wake up everyone!! They don't care about fixing the problem with THE SOFTWARE AND THE PHONE!! All they care about is the bottom line…MAKING MONEY off of all of us who buy these defective phones!! My contract is up in January! And I'll be moving to another carrier!!! One who gives a damn about their customers!!!!! Because VERIZON, YOU DON'T!!! And you obviously hire a bunch of mindless geeks who know NOTHING about anything relating to the real problems that we all are having with the LG EXTRAVERT 2!! GET A LIFE VERIZON CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!! SEND YOUR SUPPORT TEAM BACK TO KINDERGARTEN!! THEY OBVIOUSLY NEED IT!!!!
