Upgrade free phone offer

I have two basic phones on my account....one is 2G and one is 3G that Verizon wants me to update to 4G.  I received an offer in the mail offering two phone choices that I can use for an upgrade at no cost.  After reviewing the phones offered on the Verizon website, I found that the offered free phones  have very poor reviews and are pretty much "garbage".   Our old phones performed well for years and we would like to get something other than "garbage".   There are basic phones offered on the Verizon website that I would be interested to purchase that have good reviews.   In lieu of the "garbage" free phones, I would be willing to purchase the good phones.  I attempted to contact Verizon customer support as to whether I could use the "garbage" phone credits to apply to a purchase of a phone that was not garbage and that would  meet my needs.  I am willing to pay the difference  in cost between what Verizon says the "garbage" phones credit amount is and  the cost of the phones available on the Verizon website that I feel would meet my needs for a much better quality phone that I could depend  on.   The problem is:   I have called and was transferred to "Customer Service" and was put on hold to listen to music.   The first session of hold was a bit over two hours with no  response and then a disconnection.   I called again with the same scenario....this time the music lasted over 2 and 1/2 hours and then I was disconnected again with no response.  Others in this Community have referred to being 20 year customers and Verizon speaks of some sort of "loyalty program".  I should qualify, however, I cannot even talk to anyone.   How can I get through to Verizon  to get my concerns addressed?  I cannot remain on the line for in excess of 5 hours a day just to be disconnected!!!!

I can attest to the poor customer service as for your new phone inquiries my advice would be look at what phone you would like maybe a few and make final choice based on features etc lg or samsung good picks each may have bad models tho so would use other reviews as well to pick as for trade in or other options I don't know how they decide on that but being there older I would not expect much as trade in I would just look at new phone and how from there

I would be interested in the Kyocera Dura with camera basic phone as upgrades to two phones on my account, one of which is 2^ and the other is 4G.

Sorry. for my typo...in my prior post I referred to the two phones needing an  up grade incorrectly.  The two phones on my account needing an  upgrade to 4G are currently  a 2G and a  3G.

Okay, great. You can find the steps to upgrade your line(s) here: https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-205644/ . Does this make sense?

OK, just to clarify:  in my original post I offered to upgrade to a better phone than was offered for free on the card offer received in my  mail.   My question was:  can I upgrade my old phones to a phone of my choice and pay the difference between the credit offered for the free phone.  If so, what is the procedure to order the new phone of my choice and apply the credit offered for the free phone?

I think if you want a better phone you will just have to shell for a better one.  I doubt they will let you pay the difference.  Probably be some good deals on Friday.

You can't reply directly from your email.  You need to reply from the messages at the top of this page.

I received two private messages from customer service, and even though I tried to reply, no success.  So, I am posting my reply here in hopes someone will see it.

My card offer was for an Orbit Journey V or a Samsung AO1.   Both had horrible reviews on the Version web site.  The mail card offer was for free phones.  The following was printed at the bottom of the card:    CDMA_11_DualOffer

I do not have a prepaid plan....I pay a bill for my phones service each month.

I have two phones that need to be upgraded...one 2G and the other 3G.  I already have one phone that is 4G.  Thus, I have 3 phones on my plan and need to upgrade  2 phones to 4G.  I am interested in the Kyocera Dura Extreme (with camera) to replace my 2 older phones that are not 4G.  If prefer these basic, durable phones as I have no need for smartphones in my use and need a durable, reliable basic phone. I am prepared to pay the difference in cost between the phones offered free and the more durable desirable phones that will meet my needs.  My question:   I would like to apply the credit offered for the free phones to the phones that will meet my needs and am willing to pay the difference in cost since my desired phones have a higher retail cost.  I sincerely hope we can come to an agreement.  Thank you for your private message and consideration......and I hope that you can  come up with an easier way to respond to your private messages.

At the top of this page after you send the message you receive that error?  That sounds like an error in your email because you can't reply to the private messages from your email, very weird.  I would try a different browser to respond to the private messages.

I doubt they will use your personal email.  What exactly happens when you use rivate messaging on this page,  have you tried from different browsers?  You seem to be the only one it's not working for as there have been no other complaints about private messages not working.
