I'm getting my daughter her first phone for Christmas. I don't want to spend the additional 30.00 per month for a data package so that leaves me with a basic phone. Any recommendations on which one to get? Do you think new ones will be out closer to Christmas?

Because none of the non-smartphones on the market from Verizon require a data plan, I think we'll need more information before being able to suggest something.
